Thank you so much for taking the time to post this review for us. We are delighted that you enjoyed your stay with us, and of course the golf and the visit to the Kildare Village. We do look forward to you visit for the 2018 Punchestown National Hunt Festival, please do make your reservation very soon as we are almost booked out for this event. Thank you again and we look forward to seeing you back at Rathsallagh House for a great weeks racing.
This accolade was awarded to Rathsallagh House recently and it was very well deserved .Attended wedding on Dec8 and it was incredible .Heaven looked down on us and gave us a beautiful fall of snow without the danger of ice.It was magical _straight picture postcard Christmas scene .The House was beautifully decorated with Christmas trees and decorations .From beginning everything went smack smooth. Catherine organized everyone to be seated in Orangery for the ceremony beautifully conducted by minister Helen .The canapés were delightfully and the wine flowed. The meal itselself was excellent- rare beef ordered and delivered as ordered by all and as many second helpings as desired . The music began and everyone participated - the elder lemons better than than young ones Many congrats and thanks to Owners, management and wonderful staff .All contributed to making it a memorable day .Very highly recommended to everyone one
Thank you so much for taking the time to write a great review for Rathsallagh and the team here, Catherine is over the moon that you gave her a special mention. We were absolutely thrilled to win the Best Wedding Venue 2017 in Ireland at the National Hospitality Awards just before Christmas, I can tell you there were lots of celebrations in this part of West Wicklow.
Winter weddings at Rathsallagh House can be magical as you have experienced, and of course having the ceremony on site just helps to make the day flow all that more smoother. We are now in the finishing stages of our new ceremony room that has a seated capacity of 250 guests, with this addition there are now 3 indoor options for winter wedding ceremonies and of course the many more outside including the walled garden for summer.
We do not only do weddings however and we would love to see you both back to visit with us very soon, perhaps for one of our past wedding couples only nights. In the meantime we thank you again for writing this review and we wish you both long life and happiness.
We had the most wonderful wedding day at Rathsallagh. Living in the UK and planning the wedding was made extremely easy by the helpful and professional wedding team. With over 20 year experience I cannot sing their praises enough. Quick responses and a flexible attitude help make planning as stress free as possible. The team were willing to help set up and create the vision for the room, and made the whole ocassion feel personal and like ours was the only wedding they were dealing with or that mattered.
All the guests were extremely impressed with the quality of the rooms; 5 star in my opinion. From their large size, comfortable bedding, cleanliness, walk in showers and heated flooring in the bathroom.
Food was perfect; from personal consultation with the chef at tasting to the day. Food brought out on time, cooled to individual preference and seconds of meat offered!
The grounds are simply beautiful, and the down to earth rustic country feel is exactly what we were looking for. Open fires; a real home from home. Even after the bar had closed staff were more than happy to let us stay up all night if we had wanted! Having a winter wedding is always a worry with photos but the as well as the secret garden they have a lovely orangery which is beautiful. The function room is intimate and beautiful as is which makes personalisation easy.
Our day was perfect and we cannot recommend Rathsallagh enough. No hidden catches with the package and flawless device. What more could you ask for!?
Thank you so much for writing such a beautiful review for Rathsallagh, the team here aver over the moon with the praise you have given them . We loved working with you to create your own personal vision of Rathsallagh. We are lucky that the facility which is Rathsallagh is so flexible – as are the team – and combed it all worked extremely well. It was a pleasure and an honour hosting your big day and we do hope that you will come back and stay with us again in the New Year. On that note we are having our past wedding couples only night in early February next, although it is fully booked already please do let us know if you want to go on the wait list . Its a very special evening only for people who were married here at Rathsallagh House. It is so popular that we may even have to put a 2nd one on later next year. Thank you again and we wish you both long life and happiness. From all at Rathsallagh
Interesting country house with the usual interior, full of nooks and crannys and unusual antique artefacts. Very well-kept buildings, warm, with open fires and great country house atmosphere. There is no actual "Big House" though, as this was the victim of a fire in the nineteenth century. What remains, are the considerable support buildings ie old coach houses, farm buildings and billets for the staff originally employed on the old estate. All the buildings have been beautifully adapted and maintained. However, the absence of a main entrance and hallway tends to lead to guests scattering into groups in the various rooms provided. There is a well stocked bar on the premises. The marquee-type room for the actual wedding reception can accomodate a large number of tables and still leave room for dancing. The food when I attended, was well cooked but was the "huge plate, small helping" variety. Staff were pleasent and attentive. The bedrooms were very charming and quaint. The grounds are quite extensive, provide a very pleasent back drop to the ivy covered buildings, are well maintained with some ancient trees, but otherwise not especially interesting.
Thank you very much for taking the time to send us a review on your recent visit to Rathsallagh House .
We are delighted that you had an interest in the History of the House. The original was actually burned down in the 18th century , apparently it was a reprisal after the massacre of Dunlaivn Green on the 26th May 1798, the house you see at the time had been requisitioned as the billet of the local British army commander. After the fire then the family moved into the stables ( built in the 17th century ) and to what we now know today as Rathsallagh House. What they moved into was still a very substantial residence comprising of 4 receptions rooms, snooker room, gun room, kitchens, offices and 9 bedrooms with unusually for the period 4 bathrooms, not bad for a converted stable block. Today of course it is much expanded and has more than 30 ensuite bedrooms some of them up to 500 square feet in size. .
Weddings at Rathsallagh today tend to mingle throughout all of the reception rooms, much like they would in days of old. It may be disconcerting if one is used to large barn like hotel reception halls , however the Country House model is much more charming elegant and atmospheric.
We are delighted that you enjoyed your food, however we do apologise if you felt you did not get enough. We are not of the “pile it high on the plate” sort of establishment . For example at the wedding you attended we served striploin of beef cooked to order to each guests individual preference. That being said we did have staff at your table offering seconds to anyone that wished for same.
We are also very pleased to note your interest in trees. It’s a pity you missed the stands of giant sequoia’s ( or red woods ) planted in 1805 to commemorate the battle of Trafalgar. Although some say they were planted at the request of Captain Thomas Hardy and Nelson's mistress, Lady Hamilton to commemorate the battle of the Nile in 1798. Also many of the larger oaks are also in the Irish register, if you look closely you
will see little plaques showing you the information on same.
We do hope that next time you will actually be able to spend the night at Rathsallagh when we can take the time to delve into the history of the place and show you around properly. . Thank you again for your review and we do hope to see you back very soon.
We had our Magical Wedding Day at Rathsallagh Country House on the 15th of September, 2017. It is such an amazing venue, from the beautiful gardens to the fabulous Pavillion and the relaxed atmosphere of the house, it made our wedding day a day we will never forget. The entire team made us feel like we were the only couple to ever get married!
We have received so much feedback from our guests on how friendly the staff were, the gorgeous bedrooms, stunning grounds and the amazing food right through from the canapes to the dinner and afters food. Plenty of our guests went for seconds & third's!! We have just received our photos from Couple Photography and we are over the moon, Rathsallagh is just so picturesque I don't know where we will start trying to choose the photos for our Album.
We cannot thank Joe , Catherine, Gillian , Julie, Stephen & all the team from Rathsallagh enough! We only wish we could do it all again!
We are so glad to hear that you had such a fantastic day here at Rathsallagh and we thank you for writing such a great review for us and all the team here. Every wedding here is individually special to us , and is as important as the last or the next. Some of the team here have been with Rathsallagh for 20 and 30 years, we even have a number of 2nd generation team members and that innate sense of hospitality shows in how the staff look after our guests. We are not just a wedding venue however – that being said when a wedding is on here it takes over the house exclusively so there are no other guests – and we do have some weekend dates available this coming January , February, and April , so please do check our web site and come back and see us again soon and spend a nice quite romantic time at Rathsallagh. Thank you again and we wish you both long life and happiness. From all at Rathsallagh
Where do I start!? I can not begin to express my thanks to the team at Rathsallagh House for such an amazing wedding day last month - just WOW. From the moment I arrived at Rathsallagh I knew it was my venue.
We met with Julie for our initial show around and it was a pleasure working with her right through to our wedding day.
We were looked after extremely well.
Everything on the day was perfect - the arrivals reception and pavilion were beautifully decorated - there are so many beautiful photo opportunities both inside and outside (the big tree is amazing!), the food was out of this world - both the wedding meal and the breakfast the next morning, stunning bedrooms.
The staff went above and beyond on the day for us and all of our guests. We have received such wonderful feedback from everybody. I have to mention Stephen in particular - he was absolutely fantastic on the day.
Our day was so relaxed from start to finish - a truly magical day.
Huge thanks to Joe, Julie, Stephen, Catherine, Gillian & all the team at Rathsallagh.
I can't wait to visit again soon.
