This is a lovely cottage in a marvellous location, with 3 bedrooms which is great. You only have to head toward Cappoquin to find the beautiful Blackwater is nearby and you can park right beside it easily and enjoy the glorious view. Cappoquin has lots to offer especially Barron's wonderful bakery. Aoife is a joy to deal with and she responds very quickly to all contact so renting sorted out easily. Noreen also a lovely person to deal with. Could not have been easier.
The location was in a quiet country valley in western county Waterford, near the pretty castle gardens at Lismore, and with easy access to Cork and Waterford. Driving north there were a choice of scenic routes up over the Knockmealdown and Comeragh mountains to historic sites in Co. Tipperary like Cahir and Cashel. Weather was pretty awful at times, so we did more driving and less walking than planned - but we did sample a good range of cafes and pubs! The cottage itself, that we rented from Aoife (she was absent, but we were looked after by her mother Noreen, who was farmer to the next-door sheep who came to say Hi to us), was like a Tardis - much more spacious than it looked from the outside! All that was missing inside was a hairdryer. While we were there the satellite TV was not working, so that meant we had a break from our usual TV programmes, but that was good, too, as we got a flavour of the culture from Irish TV (nearly all of the channels were English-language), and I was introduced to new things like Gaelic football - the all-Ireland quarter-finals were on. All in all, a really lovely break from the usual hectic pace. Thoroughly recommended.
We stayed here for 5 days recently and it was absolutely perfect for what we were looking for. It was very spacious with a large sitting room, very well equipped kitchen and a lovely large garden. We had a great time and Noreen was a lovely lady to deal with if we had any queries. We enjoyed our stay & would definitely return here again another time in the future :-)
The house is situated in good location if you want to visit Cork or Waterford. We had all the stuff that we needed in the kitchen. There is a pretty big garden to play with a ball.
This house had enough room for our family to spread out and was a great location for touring to places in south and southeast Ireland. Really enjoyed the backyard and the sheep next door, especially Meh, the extra friendly character.
