This was our first time in a holiday cottage despite our many visits to this part of the world. We can't wait to do it again!
The cottage is quite remote and a car is essential(as is the case for anywhere in this part of the world) but if you want comfortable, modern, homely, breathtakingly idyllic views over the mountains and Blackwater river and the most wonderful hosts(Maurice and Lucilla) you will ever meet you really couldn't do any better than this beautiful cottage!
The cottage has 2 double bedrooms and 1 twin bedroom,a modern bathroom,a lovely sitting/dining room with wood burner,a modern well fitted kitchen with an adjoining utility room amd ample parking room for multiple vehicles.
We only stayed 3 nights and would have stayed longer in a heartbeat had we been able too,it really is quite simply an uplifting experience to spend time here,we will be returning as soon as time allows and I wouldn't dream of staying anywhere else in future, thanks to both Maurice and Lucilla for their hospitality, see you soon!
We stayed last week for 3 Nights and had such a warm welcome from Maurice. The cottage is in such a beautiful place with amazing views it has everything you could think off in it ... Even down to electric blankets for the colder nights. If you want a nice peaceful few days this is the perfect place to stay not far drive from Dungarvan and Youghal with a lovely little Pub in villierstown to visit and plenty off places for Lunch. Its in the perfect place if you like walking you could walk for miles !! We will definitely be making a visit to this beautiful cottage again soon and Thank you Very Much Maurice for a lovely stay in your beautiful cottage.
We felt as if we were staying with friends. The cottage was so charming and equipt with everything we could possibly need.So quiet and peaceful with the Blackwater River a few hundred yards away. Maurice gave us much information and charmed us with the story of his family connection with the area.We must return!
From the time we booked Maurice welcomed us to his lovely Irish cottage. It stands beside the beautiful Blackwater River and has such peaceful views it was hard to leave. Maurice shared freely his wonderful knowledge of the area, with lots of advice about places to visit, good walks and local culture. Visiting in early spring, the countryside looked beautiful and the cozy fireplace was great to come home to each day.
A lovely cottage, clean and comfortable, in a quiet setting, the owners Maurice and his wife could not have been more friendly and helpful.
Would certainly recommend to friends and family and planning a return visit next year
