I spent 3 days at the Ballymaloe House Hotel and didn't want to ever leave. The dinners were fantastic as was the breakfast. The staff were warm and welcoming. I would certainly recommend this Hotel and look forward to staying there again.

This is a 1st rate Hotel with wonderful rooms, outstanding service and the best breakfast ever. Walks around the property are wonderfully relaxing. The Sunday buffet is a must. We hope to be back in the near future.

Stayed here recently for a night.and really enjoyed it. From our check in to check out staff unfailingly polite and friendly. Room was fine , spotlessly clean and spacious. Evening meal was very good with a very knowledgeable and enthusiastic sommelier on duty. I heeded previous reviewers advise of pacing ones self over the 5 courses so you leave room for the delicious dessert trolley. Its silver service with a touch of class but the atmosphere is very relaxed and not intimidating, a balance well struck.
Plenty to see and do in the grounds , shop , walled garden , orchard etc so would have no hesitation recommending Ballymaloe. Will be back.

We were staying at a nearby golf resort and took a local taxi to Ballymaloe - only one person at front desk (on the phone) but nonetheless pleasant after the call ended.
Had an aperitif in the conservatory and admired the fine gardens. Menus and wine lists inspected but after ordering the food, spent some time perusing the extensive wine list and then had to search for waiter to order two bottles of wine - a fume and a Fiona - Irish prices as expected high!!
Seated in a small anteroom at a small table, not suitable for two wine bottles so asked to be moved to a larger table alongside. French sommelier arrived and was pleasant but after initial visit, we only saw him once and tasted and poured our own red wine , not 5* service.
Bread and fantastic butter excellent, vegetables so fresh and we'll prepared. Only one dish of both our 5 courses deserved mention - the cod was excellent. The soups were average, the terrine dry, the meats, braised lamb and slow roasted pork (was pork loin) were not even pub standard and meagre (asked and did receive extra slices) crackling appeared to be bacon rinds masquerading as crackling.
Cheese trolley was sparse and each slice was then halved before serving, pitiful but again sourdough bread was good.
We were so disappointed by then, cannot even recall the average sweet trolley and departed for a cosier lounge for coffee and petit fours - Carina Allen did breeze through but merely asked if we were being looked after . Gritted my teeth and paid my bill of 300 euro. Ah well, luckily I am married to a fantastic chef
Must mention our waitress Becky who was friendly throughout.
We enjoyed a memorable meal at Tom Kitchens restaurant in Leith for half this price.

We spent 3 superlative nights here in late May. The grounds were full of flowers in bloom and the aromas from the kitchen were enchanting. All three nights' dinners were the best we had during our stay in Ireland, with the fish being outstanding( and we don't care that much for fish). Everywhere else we went I ordered fish and no restaurant could come close to what I had at Ballymaloe. The service is outstanding, the rooms are large with a good bathroom. We had turn down service and clean towels every evening. Considering that breakfast was included in the fee, Ballymaloe, was fairly priced. We stayed at more expensive places with less amenities. I recommend ending your vacation here, but you'll probably have to spend one last night in Dublin to fly home and if you do, eat at Vintage Kitchen- about the closest we can to having that exceptional dining experience.

Room tip: Come in mid to late May and ask for an upstairs room.
