“Must See”

Loretta Lynn's Ranch

This is a must see for any fan of Loretta Lynn. For $25 apiece, we were able to tour the Butcher Holler house/set used for the movie, a replication of part of a coal mine (was cheesy), the first floor of the plantation house, and the museum. It was certainly well worth the money. I think it's a bit excessive in catering to tourists with the gift shops and trying to pretend it's a small little town near the plantation - really don't get it and it is too cheesy, but the rest was well worth the drive.

I’ve been wanting to visit Hurricane Mills for a long time. It is so much more than you are expecting. First it’s an entire town with its own post office. You get to tour the replica of her Kentucky childhood home, which is interesting. It’s also much bigger than I thought for. You also get to tour a simulated coal mine like her daddy worked in until he died. I never knew they were only 4 feet high inside. Her daddy was over 6 feet so when they say back breaking work, they mean it. The museum is over 18,000 square feet & every inch of it is covered with her awards, pictures, albums, beautiful outfits, bus, cars, more & even a little movie of sorts. You could spend the whole day here or just a couple of hours, but you won’t be sorry you visited this country legend’s town!

Awesome place. Highly recommend. The museum was definitely the highlight of the visit. Be sure to stop at the country store and get a fried bologna sandwich.
