The hotel staff were wonderful during our visit! The hotel was clean and pool was fantastic! The property was in walking distance to area attractions was what drew us to stay here. Parking was valet at $14 a day, which wasn't an issue since the valets were courteous and respectful (they always brought the car back with the air going so it was nice and cold!!). The front desk staff (Matthew) gave us suggestions on local restaurants and things to do while in town. Great place, will stay again if we are in the area!!

They have first rate service from the valet parking, to the front desk, to the breakfast hostess. The room was very clean, with a comfortable bed and pillows. The room also had a nice council which could fold out to a nice bed. The front desk answered any questions we had including directions to restaurants. The breakfast buffet was also hot and fresh.

The hotel is in a great location. We were able we walk to the aquarium and the children's discovery museum . The room was spacious and clean . Customer service was not the best we have had though . Parking is Valet, which is fine but the guys had no clue what they were doing . We had requested early check in and were told the rooms would be ready by 1. We came back after visiting the aquarium around 3 and the rooms weren't ready . We were told that check in wasn't until 4. This was very frustrating since we had two toddlers that had fallen asleep . We asked for a breakfast suggestion this morning other than the hotel and the lady suggested a place that wasn't even open . This would not have been to big of an issue if we didn't have two kids that can't walk fast or far . At the end we are breakfast at the hotel restaurant, which was ok . Overall, we were not very impressed and will probably not stay here next time we visit .

The people working at the hotel were very friendly and helpful. The bed was made and towels were changed out daily but the overall cleanliness of the room was sub par. There was a large shower but mold in the seams on the shower floor. There was no shortage of HOT water though. The table surfaces in the room and hallway by the elevator were not dusted. The ice bucket was never emptied during our stay unless we did it each morning but there was an abundance of fresh ice down the hall. The A/C controls for fan speed were bypassed and not operable. The A/C unit itself was very loud when running. We easily heard conversations from the adjoining rooms. When the toilet or sink/shower was shut off, there was a loud hammer sound from the pipes.

There is a $14 per day valet parking charge but the valets were quick and courteous.

BTW...the rate for a Friday stay is billed at the higher weekend rate.

The restaurant served great food and the bar service was excellent.

The hotel is in a great, central location to many attractions and restaurants.

Room tip: North facing rooms have a poor view...roof tops, parking lot, etc

Haven't been to a Holiday Inn in decades, and boy has the brand changed. Was wowed by the service, comfort, and amenities. My 6 year-old (well traveled) son now wants to visit Holiday Inn Hotels everywhere! We are already planning our next trip.

The front desk staff deserves special recognition. I believe it is Retha and Matthew that gave us outstanding service. The room was extremely clean and comfortable, especially the beds. Very quiet. There was coin operated laundry down the hall (which we should have used while we had the chance). There was free coffee everywhere (Keurigs in the room), including in the restaurant. Breakfast was tasty, fresh, and extremely reasonable. My son ate free and my meal was a "normal" price, not a "hotel" price (and more free coffee). My son enjoyed the swimming pool; towels were provided so no need to bring one from the room. The location was perfect - lots of dining options close by, and a 5-10 minute walk to the riverfront (5 for me, 10 for me with my son). It's a very walkable downtown.

The only issue we came across was when checking in with the valet. They could use some training in structuring expectations of the guests when exiting the car. I expected help with my luggage, but it's self serve. No problems with any of the valets when picking up the car, but returned for a second stay the following week and had the same problem at check in. The valet acted like I was getting in the way of his job. Dude - you work customer service!! Needless to say, this was not a dealbreaker. I'm now a loyal fan of the Holiday Inn brand (and so is my son)!

Room tip: Our double queen room had a bathtub, but our king room only had a shower.
