pricey for what you get! rooms are tiny and very outdated the tv was a tiny old tv mounted in the corner, bathroom is the size of a closet with only a shower, there is no coffee in the rooms had to walk nearly two blocks to the office for a cup of coffee and then carry it back in a tiny styrofoam cup with no lid! This room should have only cost maybe $40 max!

We've been going to Sturgis, SD for the Rally for over 25 years and although the Rally has changed - we will probably keep going back for the scenery, great roads and camaraderie. This year we stayed at the Iron Horse Inn in Whitewood - about 12 miles away from Sturgis. We usually have stayed in Deadwood, or Sturgis itself - but we are thrilled that we were at the Iron Horse this year.

We traveled with a group of 13 riders, who all stayed at the Iron Horse. Of course prices are higher at Rally time, but given what other places charge - this place was more reasonable.

The paved parking, right outside your room - is perfect. The hotel offers rooms on the outside and in a covered area between two buildings - that has partially covered parking. I believe the inside areas are reserved for bikes only, while the outside rooms can accommodate 4 wheeled vehicles.

Although we do not trailer our bikes, there is dirt parking for trailers, RV's and I believe there is even a tent area for dry camping.

The site houses buildings and all single story rooms. Each room has a small bath with a toilet and shower - the sink/vanity is outside the bathroom in the bedroom area.

The beds are all queen sized, as far as I know - and there are 2 beds in each room. There is a flat screen TV in the corner of the room.

There is an onsite restaurant/bar that serves bar food and all kinds of drinks. Full bar.

Each motel building has it's own washer/dryer room, a vending machine and a place where outdoor chairs are stacked. Take the time to roam around and check the place out, or you may miss this room if you need extra seating or need to do laundry.

The place is very quiet at night and noise - even with all those bikes - was never a problem. The room was immaculately clean. Soap is provided, but I didn't see any shampoo or conditioner so bring your own. There is a hair dryer at the sink area. There are enough towels for two people hanging in the bathroom.

The two Queen sized beds are comfortable and clean. The room is well maintained and it looked like the vertical blind window coverings were brand new. Please note that they are not room darkeners! We covered up our window with a black plastic garbage bag so we could sleep in a bit. Necessity is the mother of invention.

Due to our schedule, we only stayed for 3 nights. The biggest regret of our 19 day trip is that I didn't spend another night at the Iron Horse.

The staff is friendly and accommodating. In fact, we had shipped our helmets to the Iron Horse (we usually don't wear helmets while riding) - but we needed them in order to test ride some new bikes at Sturgis. The Iron Horse staff received our helmets for us, and then when we were ready to ship them home (we paid for the postage) they were kind enough to hold them for us until Fed Ex picked them up.

The only suggestion I would have - is to provide someplace to put luggage or saddlebags, We found that we used one bed to sleep, and the other to put our stuff. A small dresser somewhere in the room would help so much.

This motel is a great place before, during and after the rally. I strongly suggest you stay at the Iron Horse the next time you are in or around Whitewood, SD.

Room Tip: Try to get a building in the back of the complex. Less bike traffic.

Great place! Clean, comfortable - easy access to room on one level. Able to park the bike right outside the room for added security.
Cold beer - fresh hot pizza on same grounds.
Was here 10 yrs ago and very happy to have been able to go back to make more memories.
Definitely a great place for bikers!

If you're planning on spending most of your time seeing the sights this is a good place to stay the night. But if you like to hang out in or near your room this is not it. Rooms are small and tight for 2 people. No bathtub; shower only. No place to spread out. Beds are comfy though. Laundry in each building but it's only one washer and dryer. No ice machine but you can buy a bag. No ice bucket so bring your cooler. If you're a biker this is a good place to stay. They have rags to clean your bike with after a day of riding. No swimming pool.
