We stayed for one week at this quiet and beautifully situated bungalow. Clean, comfortable, warm. Everything you need for self catering is provided. There is absolutely nothing but good things to say about this place. If you like to be away from it all, looking at fantastic views with only the sound of birds to disturb your peace then, this is for you. The photos on the website make it look good but it's even better in real life. Little village shop just up the road very convenient but better still Tesco will deliver your grocery order to the door from Stornaway.
Do I recommend it? You bet I do!

“Back again!”
Reviewed 21 March 2016 for a stay in January 2016

Returned for a weekend break, this time in mid January.
Immediately stepped back into relaxed luxury on arrival after a warm welcome.
A fantastic place to disappear to, then unwind, recharge and rejuvenate.
The peace and tranquility experienced at the cottage is truly sublime, and to escape to Bernera is the perfect antidote to an increasingly manic world.
We saw Red Deer Stags by the road and two Golden Eagles circling above Breaclete from the cottage decking during our stay, see photos. You don't go looking for wildlife here, it comes to see you!
Stunning.

Fantastic cottage with everything you could ever need. Upon walking in the door we immediately felt at home which is a huge plus for us. Our 6 year old loved the Spa bath so much she's trying to convince me to get one too. Cottage is very warm even in the harshest weather. Lovely views from the lounge. A lovely touch was the chocolates and Teddy left for our little girl on arrival. We plan to come back and enjoy the stunning beaches during the summer. Definitely one of our favourite places we've holidayed in.

A beautiful home in a fabulous location. Norma, the owner was very welcoming and helpful. The house is well situated as a quiet retreat with stunning views, and close to the lovely Bosta beach. We enjoyed making a fuss of Norma's cat. We'd recommend taking the "ferry" over to Little Bernera to visit the uninhabited island with fab beaches. The nearby Community Centre is great to drop in for tea and cakes or a meal.

“Stunning cottage in a remote and beautiful location where you are made very welcome”
Reviewed 20 August 2015 for a stay in July 2015

We atayed a the Ard for the first week of our Honeymoon. Firstly, Norma, the owner was extremely welcoming and nothing was too much trouble. The cottage (it was more of a home to be honest) was perfect. It was quiet, remote with all the home comforts and very well appointed. The views, especially in the evening from the decking, over the Atlantic were outstanding. Great place to have a drink and watch the sun go down. The area was very quiet but you are not far (we walked it and cycled it) from Bosta beach, a most stunning beach with Iron Age fort. It is worth exploring Great Bernera, the islanders are all friendly and you get hat real sense of community. Jo and I stay in cottages all over the country. The Ard is the best, most homely and comfortable cottage we have stayed in. It took us a couple of days to adjust, but we really took to the area and the cottage. Great wildlife in/around Bernera and the surrounding area.
