Airy 8 floor atrium, updated lobby, refrigerator, coffee maker and microwave, large wall of windows. Extra light in bathroom as night light. Smooth sheets, no scent in room, but one desk staff with potent perfume scent. Quiet area a short drive to downtown. Room doors could use tiny door frame cushions to dampen noise and rattle of slammed doors. I would return here.

We were traveling with a group of 20 folks and we still had great service-especially by the server in the dining area (her upbeat attitude was contagious)! Our food was good and there were plenty of options. The hotel is conveniently located for exploring the downtown area...and I highly recommend you do. One of the meeting rooms we used was very cold..so that would be the only issue we had! We really enjoyed our shuttle driver and we got to the airport with plenty of time to check in! It was a good place to start and end our trip to the Badlands!

Second night of our summer vacation with my family of 5.

The hotel footprint is fairly large which leaves the impression that it should be downtown in a large city which it is not, this is something we appreciated. Check in was pleasant and the staff was very friendly. We used our points for this stay, one night.

The room was large and accommodating, it looked fairly new and was more than comfortable for us. We used the pool and while it was crowded, our kids enjoyed swimming after a long day of being on the road.

Restaurants are not super close, takes 5 minutes up the hill to get to where most of the action is so not a big deal.

It was close to the road that leads up to Mount Rushmore which we really liked as we went there before we checked in.

There is no complimentary breakfast so we drove 5 minutes to the Safeway and ate in the room the morning after.

Check out was smooth and uneventful, I gave it a 5/5 as it met all of our expectations and was the cleanest room we had during our 2 week holiday.

Thank you Holiday Inn Rapid City!

Booked a King Suite - the best room available. I asked for a high floor and was given 2nd floor. The windows were dirty. The lounge was very sparsely decorated and furnished. The room has no safe. The bathroom is tiny. No shower gel is provided. The tiny shampoo and soap bar was not replenished. The lobby and bar smell of chlorine from the swimming pool. The internet is the slowest we’ve encountered across our last 12 hotel nights.

On the plus side the room was spotlessly clean on arrival and the bed was comfortable.

Beware they charge $5 a night for parking. They don’t mention this at check-in. If you park one row away in the Civic Center there is no charge (providing there’s not an event on). Their website promotes a free local shuttle service. It’s certainly not pro-actively offered on site. When I asked about a ride to town at 9.30pm, it was too late.

I won’t stay here again - it feels like they’re penny-pinching.

Andrew B, I apologize that your stay was disappointing. As a brand we are always looking to improve our bathroom amenities and we appreciate the feedback. I’m also sorry to hear that our shuttle was not available when you needed a ride. We try to accommodate all requests, but we do prioritize airport pickups and drop offs to make sure our guests get to and from their flights in a timely manner. We will work with the front desk to identify other possible solutions when cases like this arise.

We stayed here first week of September with a coach tour group. The room was excellent, large size with a king-size bed and a sitting area. The included buffet breakfast was very good with efficient service and omelettes made to order in the back. A big complaint about breakfast from some of us was that the bananas were cut in half and we have never seen that before. I think they do that so that tour groups do not take a banana with them for the ride but since bananas are so cheap this should not be done. It makes the hotel look cheesy.
The only problem we had was with the welcome dinner which was buffet style in a room that was not air-conditioned. Therefore, the room was kind of musty even though they had some floor fans running, and when did filled up with our group it was uncomfortably warm. Also the wait staff that night was not particularly accommodating, as one of our group asked for oil and vinegar for her salad and although it was eventually given to her, he was making faces and did not seem to want to provide it. Even a second glass of wine was refused by the bartender even though many of us including myself did not have any at all. Also, it was a big effort to provide hot tea. Coach tour groups should be treated the same as any other Hotel guests as we are also paying for the services.
