Beach Haven is a beautiful beach home - well equipped for a weeks beach stay! Our family enjoyed the convenient beach access with bathroom & rinse off showers, the 3 outdoor pools (kids splash pad, wading & kid friendly pool and third pool for adult/family enjoyment). Lots of lounge chairs!!! Home is equipped with lots of pots, pans, etc. if choosing to cook! David (the owner) was easily contacted and answered any & all questions in a quick timely manner...great to work with!! We certainly hope to visit Beach Haven again!!
Fantastic place to unwind and spend quality family time! The home was clean, offered plenty of space for the family, and was located a short walk (even shorter golf cart ride) from the beach. Everything you could want or need in a vacation rental was provided -- Great job David (owner)! We will definitely look to rent here again next summer.
We've stayed at another beach house for the last four years, but a scheduling conflict forced us to make other arrangements. This house was a great option. My wife, 4 year old, 18-month old, and 2 grand parents stayed for a week.
The house itself is spacious and accommodating. We were pleased to find a cot in the 2nd bedroom that worked out well for my 4 year old to sleep with Grandma. The master bath was big enough to fit my 18-month old's play yard, so we could put him down earlier than the rest of the house. The master bed was a bit on the firm side. We found the HVAC to be a bit inconsistent from room to room. Neither were big issues. The house location is fairly close to the beach, but would be a bit of a hike to the pools. We found a rented golf cart a necessity. I'm not averse to walking longer distances in the right footwear, but beach flip-flops is not that kind of footwear.
Oceanside Village is a very large gated community with a number of shared amenities like an indoor and 2 outdoor pools, splash pad, private beach access, etc. The playground looked like a time warp to 1985. The main slide was over 8' tall, and there was a cut up tire morphed into something resembling a horse. We found the 10th Ave park a much better playground for our young children.
I was quite disappointed to learn of the limitations on Golf Carts. Outside carts aren't allowed for renters. There were probably hundreds of outside carts which I can only assume were provided by owners. The only option available to rent was a standard electric model. The weekly rate ($322 / 7 days) was a bit higher than the outside competition, and there was no gas option. They also prohibit taking their rental carts outside of the gated community. This wasn't a huge deal because the community is quite large. My children absolutely loved taking rides on the cart, and we could zig and zag up and down the neighborhood roads without much overlap, taking an hour or more to cover the whole complex. There are at least 4 golf cart only bridges which were fun to go over. The prohibition on leaving the neighborhood meant we had to take our cars to the 10th Ave park (which was totally worth it). They say this is a golf cart community, and it really is. During many of our rides, we passed at least 10 golf carts for every car. There are no sidewalks to speak of, so a golf cart is by far the most common way we saw folks getting around.
The private beach access was nice. We tend to be morning people, so we were among the first to the beach each morning. A time or two that we went back after lunch, it was a bit crowded in the private lot. There are bathrooms there. OSV security was visible many times checking for unregistered carts. We saw one externally rented cart with a boot on it one day. There is a side entrance to allow golf carts to get in and out of the gated bits without needing the key cards. Larger vehicles can use the provided key cards to raise the gates. We found it convenient to leave the key cards in our vehicles, and use the golf cart paths to get around the gates to and from the beach access.
There were a number of other families with younger children so my 4 year old made a few friends, but I'd say more than half of the other folks we saw were retirement age.
We took our AppleTV because this house has internet. I found the speeds consistently around 3.5mbps down/~1mbps up. Most of our streaming content (Youtube, Netflix, etc) played OK, but it would skip if I was doing much of anything on my phone.
Clean up at the end of the week is required by the renters. There is ample supplies to aid in the efforts; A shark vacuum, and a decent wringing mop. With "checkout" time at 11am, you pretty much have to get up rather early and start cleaning, doing laundry immediately on the departure day. The instructions have you leave the sheets in the drawer, so the beds aren't made when you arrive. I assume this is to make sure you know the sheets have been freshly laundered. It means you get to make your own bed when you arrive.
David was very responsive the few times I had to communicate with him. All in all we really enjoyed our time at this property. We will definitely keep this property in mind for future stays.
So thankful we chose Myrtle Beach South Carolina as our vacation location for 2016. And this location to stay specifically it is WONDERFUL in every aspect of our stay!
We stayed for a week and had a wonderful time. David (the owner) was extremely helpful. Responded quickly to all messages. Located in an extremely friendly neighborhood. Security guards are very accommodating. We met a few of the locals during our stay and they were all extremely pleasant. Will definitely be returning to the area. This house was only a short walk from the beach. Although golf cart rentals are available.
