I finally went to see my close friend Janet and what a nice treat. Our waitress was professional and super friendly. Liked the mahi mahi. The owner came out and talked for a while. I think that is important for the owner or chef to come out and know if the customers liked it !!!!!

We were given a hearty recommendation from friends at the local Golf Club, so we booked and went to try it out for ourselves.

In fact, to be entirely honest, we went on three occasions, so I will a do a 'Combo' Review (if that is allowed by TA).

1st Dinner - superb food, hot, fresh cooked, locally sourced (I think), great service, excellent wine and a pleasant lively atmosphere with a clientele dressed for Dinner.

2nd Dinner - Was a Tuesday and we learned on arrival that this was Tapas Night. Oooops. We would not have come had we known. Mistake. It was great. Limited Menu granted, but as told by the charming Lady Server, they are not traditional small plates.

She was spot on. We chose modestly to see what she meant and planned to add further Courses later. We had 6 plates between 3 of us and that was plenty. I forget the precise Choices, but recall we loved everyone and the wine. Again - good service and attentive but not 'in your face'.

3rd - Cocktail at bar on a whim. Lively bar scene, of obviously regulars, many of whom ate as well. ALL seemed as if they had NOT come straight from the beach and were, how should I put this tactfully, were of a slightly more mature vintage.

We were there in Q1 2015, and had to Book, so can only imagine it will be extremely busy by Summer.

Sorry, but there is a serious shortcoming - Parking anywhere close is a problem !

We will be back, however.

On a three-day visit to the Charleston area, High Thyme was the food highlight, heads and tails above two other trendy, highly rated restaurants. We had a party of 14 people, and other than a a delay in one table getting their entrees, the service was exceptional and everyone agreed the food, including dessert, was excellent. The prices were very reasonable for the quality of food. Highly recommend. The only downside is that it is extremely noisy.

Second trip here and it was excellent both times. You will not be disappointed. Friendly staff, great service.. Everything is made from scratch, enjoy the best creme brûlée in Charleston.

We enjoyed the food so much we went here twice during a recent trip. Ate in the dining room and ate at the bar. A good selection of well prepared food. Parking can be a bit of a challenge in the area, so you may have to park a few blocks away. But it's worth it!
