The fort is beautiful and a great activity for kids. There is adjoining beach access as well. The fort is well labeled with historical facts to help children understand.

Glad we stopped here! Used my senior pass so no charge! The visitors center has a nice display and a great movie. The movie gives a great history of the fort which was very informative. Highly recommend seeing it first. Then cross the road and tour the fort. A very nice facility with a lot of history spanning many decades...

My husband is a Civil War buff so we had to visit on our Charleston trip. The movie was a bit “hokey” but informative and gave a clear history of the fort. Beautiful grounds. Easy parking, larger museum and less crowded than Fort Sumter

Perfect way to spend an hour. Great price, $5 for a family, nice gift shop, museum, and interactive site. Very nice site to climb and explore, can see the fort Sumter also.

Started at visitors center to wonder the exhibits, see movie then visit fort itself. We got in free on this particular Sunday. Nice set up and grounds with various cannons pointed in all directions. We guided ourselves, no tour guide available.
