This is a charming resort, feels almost 'family owned'. From my initial phone conversation with the reservation person to the delightful Maitre'd in the restaurant, I got the sense that everyone working there was happy to be there and pleasant to interact with.
To hear the surf from the master bedroom is heavenly. Our family of 4 was incredibly pleased to be in a 3 bedroom suite on the top floor of this resort. The suite was quite spacious and beautifully decorated. Fully functioning kitchen, laundry, and that incredible balcony accessible from both the living room and the master bedroom. There is nothing more relaxing for me than sitting on the balcony overlooking the Atlantic Ocean.
It was our choice to be on this secluded part of Myrtle Beach, away from the hubbub of the more commercial areas. The beach is gorgeous. Clean. Uncrowded. Pools are lovely, right up against the dunes close to the ocean. Tiki bar at the pool is a nice touch.
Live music - they have a phenomenal guitar player, playing afternoons near the pool and evenings in the hotel. Truly a gifted musician.
The restaurant was fabulous. We enjoyed only two dinners there, but the menu is creative and everything we ordered was delicious. Excellent chef. And that charming Maitre'd. Lots of history in this resort.
I won't visit South Carolina in the heat of August again, because I don't love humidity, we chose to vacation there for the week leading up to the big Total Eclipse of the Sun. Next time we will come in spring or fall.

Unfortunately we were on vacation when the threat of Hurricane Irma was coming to visit. It was a tough decision to make after only being there for a couple of days, but all reports were saying that there was going to be a mandatory evacuation in the next day or so. Due to some medical issues, we couldn't risk being in traffic so left the afternoon before the expected evacuation. The manager at Island Vista was very understanding and assured us that we could be refunded the unused days. As Irma turned away from MB, the evacuation didn't happen. :( We will absolutely be back!

We have stayed here in the past and love this resort, but the last couple of years, we've made reservations at the last minute and they didn't have the room type that we want (1 BR) available. So, we stayed at another "hotel" that we had stayed at last year. At the other "hotel" there was a roach in the kitchen, so we packed up at 10:30 P.M. and left. When I called Island Vista, I spoke with a lady named Gail, who was very helpful and found that they had a 1 BR available. So, we went to Island Vista, where we met Gail, who was so sweet and helpful and apologetic about the other "hotel" and the problem that we had. She got us checked in and we were settled into the room before 11:30, by the time we carried our luggage, etc. in. Every staff member that we encountered that night was nothing but nice and made us feel welcomed. We didn't eat at the Cypress Room restaurant there this year, but have eaten breakfast there in the past and it was delicious. Again, nothing but professional and nice staff there also. Gail gave us a voucher for the spa and give us discounts for some of the shows in the area too. It really did help ease the tension that we were feeling about the other "hotel." We will only stay at Island Vista from now on, and will make sure to make reservations early when planning to visit Myrtle Beach.

From the beautiful ocean front veranda to the spacious three bedroom condos (with washer, dryer, full kitchen plus 3bathrooms) to the delicious breakfast in the restaurant, your vacation is a relaxing experience! The rocking chairs on your balcony made you never want to leave. The pools, lazy river, hot tub were all wonderful. We can't wait to return to the perfect place for R & R!
Nothing else in the area compares! GO AND ENJOY!!

Room Tip: 3/3 condos are fantastic !!

The location of this hotel (condos), is perfect, it's the only high rise on this section of the beach for a mile either way, therefore, great views from any room. The hotel is clean and comfortable. The Cypress Room restaurant is convenient, but a bit pricy, as are the frozen drinks at the tiki hut. The pool area is very nice.
Only wish the hotel had their own chairs on the beach. If you want beach chairs/umbrellas, you have to rent them from the lifeguard @ $40.00 per day for 2 crappy chairs and an umbrella, and they are collected around 4:30. We had no choice as we traveled there by plane.
