As in almost every other review, air conditioner is loud. No.... loud does not fully discribe or give justice to this AC window unit. A more appropriate visual image is a jet engine six feet from your head. The sound was so intense we planned to sleep with the AC off and balcony door open the following night, but rain foiled our scheme. Moral of this tidbit,...take some heavy duty ear plugs and be very tired at bed time.

The real kicker was the uninvited guests in the room. While sitting on the bed watching The Golf Channel, my 17yr old son said something had bitten him and showed my wife and myself 5 separate bites on this leg behind his knee. When our 17 yr old says "ouch"...we were sympathetic, but largely unconcerned. However, the following morning my wife had 6(six) welts on her back and had slept on the same bed as my son was sitting. As we traveled down the elevator for breakfast, I noticed a black speck on her blouse and attempted to brush off the offense .....you guessed it, a flea. The management response was much the same as mine to my son, sympathetic but largely unconcerned. That was 3 days ago, half a tube of Cortizone Creme and the bites remain.

Remember, ear plugs and a protective suit and your holiday we be complete.

A very nice place with everything you need. There were seven of us, from four years old to eighty! We enjoyed the lazy river, the large pool, the hot tubs, the beach - you really do not need to go anywhere else! There are kitchenettes avalable, which we used for breakfast and some lunches. A small store is on site with a very helpful staff. THe rooms are very comfortable and clean. This is not a Four Seasons resort, but you won't feel out of place, either! Try it!

Ocean Reef Resort at Myrtle Beach has made some improvements with new elevators and redecorating the room, however upon checking into our room I noticed the carpet had a few large particles of food which I removed. Later that night as I was preparing to get in bed, I noticed sand in the bed. Alot of sand not left there by me. Now I really can't tolerate this. Obviously the room was not cleaned; I reported this to the front desk and a couple of people changed the bed. No one apologized for this however the excuse was "it was suppose to be cleaned." DUH! We paid over $700 dollars for a three night stay. We have stayed at this hotel back when it was the Sheraton and Martinique but it has become too big with much neglect.

We recently stayed at the Ocean Reef Resort from May 29th - Jun 2nd in a 3 bedroom condo (4 adults / 2 kids / 1 baby). The condo was very clean, roomy, washer/dryer, great view of ocean. The pools were nice - lazy river had warm water! Kiddie pools had slightly cool water. Beach was beautliful.

We were able to check in early - this was nice. Would definetly recommend to families! Good location - 10 minutes from Broadway at the Beach and Barefoot Landing.

One item to consider - kitchens were not fully loaded with cookware. You may want to consider buying some disposable tins to use if you plan to cook alot of food. Otherwise - kitchen was spacious and clean. No complaints! We will definetly stay at this resort again next year!

We stayed at the Ocean Reef in early May in a One-Bedroom Condo Suite and we loved it! It was very, very clean and had all of the amenities of home (including a dishwasher, washer/dryer, all of the utensils/cookware/dishes that we needed). Our two children, 4 and 2, loved the pools and the lazy river. They were just completing the new pool area while we were there and it looks like a lot of fun. The hotel is in a great location as it is away from all of the traffic but still close to everything. We are hoping to make our trip to Myrtle Beach an annual event and we will stay at the Ocean Reef again!
