Reviewed last year for the first time and said I would come back. This time I'll offer a comparison with Carrabas which I would say is a good comparison.
Menu selection: Both places have a good selection with some different types of entree's. I would give the edge to Vine. I would note though that Vine tends to use spinach and mushrooms a lot in their seafood pastas...taste great but different.
Drinks: Both have full bars, good selections, price favors Vine
Food Quality and Quantity: Equal. Would suggest to Vine that they provide parmesan cheese if desired.
Cost: Pretty much a tie again, though Vine has a 4 course meal option that adds a small appetizer and a full sized dessert that is very good. Drinks as mentioned are cheaper at Vine. Probably a little more Pasta at Carrabas for your doggie bag, but more seafood on your pasta at Vine.
Service: Both are excellent
Atmosphere: Here's where the primary difference is...Vine is much quieter even when busy and Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights at 8 pm, there is an excellent piano player. Carrabas has a higher turnover of people, TV's at the bar etc. Vine is probably better for a larger party as well.
Deals: Carrabas regularly has 15% off coupons, and has the dine rewards program. Vine is part of the local RITZ book with 12 BOGO coupons.
So my favorite? Still Sole for the best Italian in Myrtle Beach, but between these two, I'd lean towards Vine, but both are acceptable whether you are a local or visiting.
