Went on the noon ferry, came back on 6:00. Had a great day there. Secluded beach, great food, "stepped back in time" feeling. The crab dip and shrimp basket is always where we start at the Daufuskie Crab co. Dip is awesome. Grabbed golf cart and headed out to a great adventure. The map is terrible so you have to "guess where you are going"- The beach, the Old Church, the school, etc. No traffic, not many people. Super Day and the young ladies at the General Store were wonderfully sweet. Saw dolphins on trip to and from. Kids loved the boat ride, great-safe parking at no charge.

This was a good experience on this island. You must rent a golf cart as the island is too big to walk. Lots to see and experience. Great beach.
Calibogue Cruises - their website indicates that your cruise portion would be on a replica of a river boat/paddle streamer. It was not. It was on an old boat with little to enjoy other than the ride itself. We felt that the brochure was false advertising on behalf of Calibogue. Cruise/golf cart for two was $110 AND an additional charge to park your car at the Hilton Head Marina. Just include that in the price!!

Relaxing Ferry trip to Daufuskie island, dolphins spotted enroute, lunch at the Daufuskie Crab Company and a 2 hour tour of the island with Captain Wick Scurry who was a knowledgeable and informative host as we toured the Island and lighthouse on a low country living history walk. Captain Scurry clearly knows and appreciates the local history. The lighthouse museum tour included a brief documentary and sample of the local wine.
Learned a bit of local history and lore with his anecdotal narrative at stops along the bus ride. Relaxed on the beautiful marina patio before the ferry return trip to Hilton Head.
A very enjoyable day.

Family of 6, heading to Daufuskie Island. Too the afternnon cruise. Plenty of room for the kids to walk and see or stand, Seen several dolphins, Cap'n even slows down some so you able to see them for several minutes.. Id recommend taking sun screen and some bottled water. Great time keeps you busy for at least 2.5 hours. Also easy on the pocket.

You get ferried to the island on an old paddle boat and the views along the way are good. We saw a few dolphins jumping out of the water. I was surprised that they didn't serve snacks or drinks on the boat--maybe we traveled on an off day. They didn't have personal tours available that day, but they gave us a great map with information about all the historical sites on the island. We had a golf cart waiting for us at the General Store and were free to explore the island on our own. If you like Pat Conroy books, he wrote about his teaching experiences on the island back in the 60s. It was really cool to see the school house and surrounding areas.
