We did a bit of hiking near the visitors center but it wasn’t that impressive, however the kids LOVED the junior ranger activities and worked so hard to complete them all. They were awarded really nice quality badges and sew on patches.

The 5 mile wildlife drive was awesome and totally made the visit for me! The scenery was so pretty and we saw tons of wildlife including a large variety of birds, turtles and a bunch of alligators. We had a gorgeous day and a great time!

The wildlife drive will not disappoint. We saw all sorts of birds and alligators of all sizes. Some sunning themselves right along the side of the road.

My two boys (5 and 2) spent two hours here last October and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. There was plenty to see - check out the website for all of the animals. Wagons can be cheaply rented from the front desk which was ideal for my 2 year old who would have struggled to walk the whole way. I particularly liked the diversity of the refuge and the boardwalk out into the everglades. Baby crocs are kept in the museum shop in the main building. My boys liked seeing the babies up close. Overall, a great visit for any family with kids. We will certainly visit again on our return to Savannah next year.

I love the exhibits because they provide all sorts of information on what is found in the area. The movie is informative. Wildlife drive can take any where from 45 minutes to several hours. Some birds were seen, but I could not identify them. Most of the birds were at the beginning of the drive.

Very professional staff in visitors center with a lot of great information to pass on. Take the four mile dirt road around the preserve and take in all nature provides you. Saw three large alligators sunning themselves as well, as hundreds of birds of varying species. Beautiful groves of mossy live oak canopied lanes.
Very pleasant couple of hours for free. A donation is appreciated to keep up the preservation of this area and we were more then happy to help with these volunteers efforts.
