We and two other couples spent 3 hours walking and talking with Ed. He is entertaining, informative, gracious, responsive, and a great guy who loves his hometown. We could stop and explore, take photos, and converse without being confined to a carriage seat. We could also walk off some of last night's meal. Ed knows his history and his town. If you are able to walk for a few miles and want to get a real understand and feel for Charleston's Historic District, Ed is an excellent guide.

My husband George & I took a private walking tour of the lovely City of Charleston with Ed Grimball this past Monday. He met us at our B&B at 9:30, and off we went. I asked him to take us to all the places you would not ordinarily find on your own, or with the horse & carriage tour ( which we had already taken ) He understood what I was after, and delivered beautifully. I told him all of the things we had seen on our own, and he took us to some really neat spots, and told us some wonderful stories. He has a slow Southern style & charm. We felt as if he were an old friend after only a few minutes. Ed truly has a love and passion for his city. It was sweet how he said " Thank You" every time we admired anything throughout our walk. He was able to answer any questions we had regarding Charleston's long and colorful history. We learned lots of interesting facts that are probably not in most text books. My husband went along with this idea of a personal tour grudgingly, and ended up truly enjoying every minute of it. We took a bathroom break at just the perfect time. Before we knew it....the tour came to an end to fast, after spending over three hours together. If you want a knowledgable, true "Southern Gentleman" for a tour guide, look no further. Thank You Ed...Your tour was the icing on the cake ! Your Friends, Cathy & George

We had never spent any time in Charleston even though we live in a Florida townhome community designed by its architects to pay homage to Charleston's Rainbow Row and Battery Park. Ed LOVES his city and it's a treat to see the historic city through his eyes and through his personal appreciation of its history, particularly its PRESERVATION history. Coming from Florida, where almost nothing historic remains and where "vintage" usually means after 1920, we really appreciated Ed's ability to help us actually feel what it was like in Charleston through so many historic events since the 1700's.

Ed's walking tour is without question the best way to start your visit to Charleston, after which you will be inspired to explore your own particular interests, be they history, gardens and horticulture, architecture, culinary pursuits, or even Low Country fishing or beaching. Ed is the most welcoming and comprehensively interesting tour guide we have ever had the pleasure to experience. We had not too long ago toured Savannah with a very knowledgeable Savannah history buff--it was a fascinating journey through Savannah's history but we felt more genuine Southern hospitality in Charleston taking Ed's tour and more inclined to want to come back to enjoy Charleston's many annual events such as the Annual Homes Tour and the Spoleto Festival. Take a walk with Ed and fall in love with Charleston!

We took this tour to start our visit to Charleston. It is a "must do" for any visitor. Ed is a lifelong Charlestonian who has a wealth of information to share. He was extremely personable, very knowledgeable, and clearly loves his city. This, combined with a very comforable pace, makes for a great tour. Ed's was one of the best walking tours we've ever taken.

I have not submitted many reviews, and have never took the time to submit a review on the same day as an experience. Ed's tour is hands down the best tour I have had the pleasure to take in any city.

Ed is a wonderfully funny, witty and kind Charlestonian whose love of the city shines through from the moment you meet him. He takes time to explain the history of the city and I find it difficult to believe there is a single person with greater knowledge.

I cannot recommend his tour highly enough! Thanks Ed for showing my wife and I around your fantastic city!
