We had some spare time while in Charleston so we drove over to Folly Beach to check out this lighthouse. It is on a sandbar off the coast, so you can't actually get to the lighthouse, but you can get a pretty good view of it. You have to park on the side of the road where it ends and then walk out a little further on a closed section of road...from there it's a short walk across the dunes to the beach where you have a nice view. Definitely take your bug spray. for some reason the inlet didn't have a great breeze there, so the tiny little biting gnats/flies ate us up!

Go to Folly Beach and turn left and go all the way to the end. Park and walk the half mile to the water. IN front of you is the Morris Island Lighthouse. Walk to the left and you can walk for miles along the waterways and find great shells and you may even see a pod of dolphins that lives out there.

I took my visiting German family on this tour. They found the entire adventure to be awesome. Our guide was very knowledgeable. The group was small. The dolphins were everywhere, and we learned so much about all the wildlife. Just starting on the quirky Bowen's Island made the adventure so authentically southern.

It's a really nice walk and a pretty view once you get there. There is a lot of graffiti taken over and that's kinda sad that people don't respect nature.
