My wife and I had a great stay at the Governor's House Inn! The staff and food were great. The character and history of the home very impressive. We stayed in Lauren's Room. I highly recommend this B&B to anyone visiting Charleston, SC!

Thank you for coming to visit us at the Governors House Inn. I'm glad you appreciated your time with us here in Charleston. A number of people don't appreciate the Laurens Room and its history here at the Inn. It's understandable that we are at times appreciated only as the home for Edward Rutledge, the youngest signer of the Declaration of Independence. Few know that this home was built by the Laurens family. A little history lesson. Henry Laurens took over for John Hancock as the President of the Second Continental Congress. He was captured during the Revolutionary War and held in the Tower of London until a prisoner swap for Cornwallis. His son John Laurens was aide-de-camp to General Washington and died in battle at the age of 27. For those who enjoy Broadway he is a main character in the Broadway hit "Hamilton" as he was very close to Alexander Hamilton while they both served Washington.
Come visit us again. We love sharing our home and all of its history.

We were in Charleston for the Citadel's homecoming weekend. We can't say enough good things about this lovely B&B. The breakfast was one of the best in Charleston! There is much attention to detail throughout your stay. The view from St. Michael's room is worth the climb up three stories. And the porch was a wonderful way to sit and relax. The location allowed us to walk to the battery and the surrounding neighborhood for some off the beaten path sight seeing. We will be back soon!

We visited to celebrate our 25th anniversary. We stayed in the Rutledge suite, which has its own private veranda. Definitely worth the extra $ for that amenity. We had breakfast served there one morning, which was wonderful. Very modern conveniences in a charming, historical southern home. The staff was friendly and attentive but left us to our privacy. Walking distance to just about anything you would want to visit in Charleston. We spent two very comfortable and pleasant days there, and would highly recommend it to anyone who is planning a special trip. Bonus - if you are Catholic it is right across the street from the Cathedral of St. John the Baptist.

Room Tip: We were on the second floor, had no problems with noise.

Thank you for coming to visit us in Charleston, so as to celebrate your special 25th anniversary. We are glad you chose us for that very special occasion. The Rutledge Suite is one of our finest rooms. As you now know it has incredibly high ceilings and a bathroom that is so luxurious we don't know where to begin to describe it.

I'm glad our staff knew when to leave you alone to your own devices. We want all our guests to feel welcome, but we also want you to be able to appreciate your privacy.

We're glad you were able to appreciate all that we have here at the Inn. We hope you will soon find another reason to visit us real soon. You don't need to wait another 25 years!

We revisited Charleston for our wedding anniversary. After 10 years, The Governor's House Inn was just as wonderful as we remembered it to be. This bed and breakfast is a comfortable and cozy place with a wonderful staff. We enjoyed happy hour on the veranda, the delicious breakfast served to our room, and the beautiful house and grounds. When staying here, you are in walking distance to downtown, the market, the waterfront park, and a variety of shopping and restaurants. We can't wait to come back!

Room Tip: The more expensive rooms with private balconies are upstairs. We enjoy the less expensive ground level rooms which offer a private entry.

I can't say enough good things about this lovely B & B. Where to begin. I would have rated it a 6 if possible. Jody greated us upon our arrival. She is so pleasant and very helpful. Bryan, the Manager, is so gracious and accommodating. Terrence offers wonderful breakfasts and will accommodate special requests if possible. Benjamin is very knowledgeable about Charleston which helped us with decisions on what to do. All of the made so gracious and are willing to help with any questions or concerns. I would say that the staff goes above and beyond to make sure that one has a good experience. Feels like home!

Room Tip: There is a first floor bedroom where we stayed which was quiet.
