I can't say enough good things about this lovely B & B. Where to begin. I would have rated it a 6 if possible. Jody greated us upon our arrival. She is so pleasant and very helpful. Bryan, the Manager, is so gracious and accommodating. Terrence offers wonderful breakfasts and will accommodate special requests if possible. Benjamin is very knowledgeable about Charleston which helped us with decisions on what to do. All of the made so gracious and are willing to help with any questions or concerns. I would say that the staff goes above and beyond to make sure that one has a good experience. Feels like home!

Room Tip: There is a first floor bedroom where we stayed which was quiet.

Pros:
1.- Beautiful grounds, amazing landscaping. Charming old souther house, well kept.
2.- Attentive staff, very courteous and ready to answer and help us with any need
3..- Location is the best, in the middle of downtown, you can walk to any restaurant or bar.
Cons:
1.- Housekeeping isn't the best, we were appalled by the conditions of the bathroom in the Jefferson Suite, the room itself was beautiful and charming, but the bathroom conditions left a very bad impression on us
2.- The Wifi is very weak, almost inexistent, we really didn't have any signal.
3.- TV was not working properly, we notify the staff and someone was supposed to come and fix it, but that never happened.
4.- Breakfast was not good at all, they only served shrimp and grits, and believe me when I say it was only 3 shrimps.
At the end we left somewhat disappointed, we were expecting a better experience, they tried to compensate us with a bottle of sparkling wine and discounted the rate, however the experience will not be forgotten.

This was a wonderful B&B. We were welcomed by a great staff and delighted by the beautiful and spacious room with veranda and unbelievably large bathroom. We stayed in the Rutledge Suite. Though we paid a little more, we thought it was worth it as we lounged on our private veranda and read. The breakfast was delicious too!

Thank you for your kind words. The Rutledge Suite is one of the nicest and largest rooms we have. While you were reading on your veranda, it's easy to imagine Edward Rutledge sitting out there as well, looking, over drafts of the Declaration of Independence. Our hot breakfasts are very special and important to us. Made fresh daily in our kitchen, our cooks bring their best to the table. Hope you visit us again soon. Bryan

Lovely place to stay, good location, friendly staff and good breakfast. We stayed in the Barbados room with our own outside sitting area. The room was very comfortable, large bathroom, sitting area and comfortable bed. The social hour was an added bonus

So sorry you didn't get to stay with us longer. Hope you will come back soon. Our "heart of the historic district" location, as well as free off street parking are two of our great perks. A hot breakfast made fresh in our kitchen each morning and house made pimento cheese, deviled eggs, and brownies at wine hour are also special treats. Glad you enjoyed them. And being able to sleep in a house owned by the youngest signer of The Declaration of Independence is a historic event as well. Bryan

We are pleased you enjoyed your stay at the Governors House Inn. Yes, our towels are fluffy and we are glad you noticed. There are many other special amenities that many of our guests soon realize once they arrive. We are located in the historic section of Charleston with plenty of parking for our guests. The wine hour is every afternoon and it is the perfect opportunity for guests to share their day with one another. If we can do anything at all to make all of our guests' visit that much more special please let us know immediately. We look forward to you coming back to visit again.
