A charming old world hotel! Everything about it brings you back to more quieter times. The rooms are very comfortable and filled with charm. The staff is excellent. They cannot do enough for you. If you want to enjoy Charleston, stay here. And by the way, don’t forget to have the Coconut Cake!!

The Planters Inn as a truly beautiful hotel that exemplifies the grace and beauty of the South along with its charm, fine furnishings and hospitality. It's a wonderful place to stay and unwind in the middle of Charleston's historic area with all of the sites, beautiful homes and fine restaurants... all within an easy stroll. It's like stepping back in time to a bygone era. It has and will continue to be our only place to stay on our visits Charleston.

We also look forward to breakfast at the Peninsula Grill each morning. The atmosphere is exceptional. the service excellent, and the food, preparation, presentation and taste are always top notch. On this trip we chose to have dinner at another restaurant, but have dined at the Peninsula Grill several time on past trips.

Payed a great deal of money for the stay and loved the location, rooms and beds. Nearly everything I wanted to do in town was within walking distance of the hotel. That’s where most of my praise ends.

Some staff members were amazingly kind and funny, others were jarringly inept and spacey. No guessing from day to day which category your staff members will fall into.

Valet parking was the worst part of the experience; I gave in and decided to try the valet parking— went to my room, showered, ate dinner, watched some tv, then left out again to walk around town… only to find my vehicle was still sitting at the front door, unlocked, and unattended. It had still not been moved to the valet parking area after ALL that time! Retrieval was no better; waited for approximately 20 minutes for my vehicle after being told it would be around in 5-10 minutes… only to be approached by a different staff member and asked if I needed my car brought around. Not a very organized process.

To avoid valet parking, I parked myself in a paid garage down the street… but guess what? Planters Inn charged me for another day of valet parking ANYWAY. As I said, worst part of my stay. Overall, not an experience I ever plan to replicate.

We loved our stay and our dining at Planters Inn and Peninsula Grill! The rooms were beautifully appointed, we felt safe amidst COVID protocols, and the dining experience was incredible as always (especially the shrimp & grits breakfast and the coconut cake)!
