We took the ferry from Patriots Point $5 all day parking. The Yorktown and other ships are there to tour separate from the Sumter tour. I highly recommend online reservations and check in early to get your ticket then go eat and come back. Bring water and a coat for the 30min boat ride to the island. The upstairs can be very cold unless it's the middle of summer. Good shoes are recommended for all the uneven and stairs you have to navigate. I wish we had more time exploring the fort between the boat rides it was about an hour. The museum was interesting and the fort is really just a former shadow of itself. It was basically a pile of rubble at the conclusion of the war then modified in the 1890s. Still it's history and I love that s#!%
