They gave us a great room facing the ocean however there were some small issues that for the peak season price we paid (went middle of August) should have been better.

The biggest issue was the shower, we stayed in the main building on top of the restaurant and when we tried to take a shower at night we could not get the shower water to run consistently for more then 2-3 minutes before shutting off. You then had to wait in the shower another minute and it would turn on again. Not ideal in any situation especially after a long day at the beach. It must be from the restaurant running water at the same time, we told the staff and they just shrugged it off as the building being old and plumbing bad. Our bathroom window wouldn’t open and there was sand on the floor when we got in so it wasn’t swept well before we got there obviously, but those are minor issues when compared to not being able to shower.

Lastly, the parking lot situation is not ideal. The parking lot is supposed to be for hotel guests only (not restaurant) but clearly that rule is not followed as one night we got home and it (and the back up lot they have) was completely packed, with more cars than hotel rooms. We told the staff and again they said there was nothing they could do.

Although, in general, this is a nice resort, I don't hesitate to point out the shortcomings: First, the website is somewhat deceiving, as the photos show the main structure only, and not the additional buildings of which we were assigned to, which does have a partial view of the ocean (expected a complete unobstructed view), as it was recessesed further back than I imagined, which was subject to the noises from the back of the main building that the kitchen staff use as well as the parking lot and all of the car noises. There were also noises from new construction at the back of the building, which at 8 or 9 in the morning was not a pleasant experience to have to deal with when you're trying to sleep-in and have a peaceful time, especially for the good money that it costs to stay here. The rooms we were in were on the 2nd of the two floors which has a semi-private balcony. The issues with the balcony are that the seating was uncomfortable with no cushions (perhaps due to the overall keeping in line with the décor and theme of the rooms), and the guard rail blocked the view of the ocean when seated (at least from the rocking chair). Also there was no switch to turn off the balcony light that goes on automatically as it starts to get dark. There were also some big black ants on the balcony that were a minor nuisance but tolerable. As for the room itself, to their credit, it was newly renovated, which was nice. The beds were two doubles and were comfortable, but would and could have been better if they were queen-size. The room which we were originally assigned to had a few maintenance issues as well. The glass doors to the shower would not stay closed, which made for an unpleasant shower experience. Two of the knobs to the drawers came off or were missing. The screen to the balcony door would not lock. And the heat could not be turned on due to the fact that the whole building was set so that as long as the room temperature was 70 degrees or higher for the whole building, it could not be turned on manually by any individual room(s). Anyway, this is how it was explained to me by Tony - the front desk attendant - who by the way, along with the rest of the staff, was very courteous and accommodating, as he did offer to move us to a different but very similar room and provide us with a discount due to the above mentioned issues and for us having to move mid-stay. There is a restaurant in the main building (we did not eat there), but I did look at the menu, and it seemed quite reasonably priced, and the dining areas (both inside and out) looked like a pleasant place to have a meal. Overall, a nice place, but for the money, I'm not sure that this would be my first choice.

Room Tip: If not staying at main property building, request 2nd floor, rooms 23 or 22

The Ocean Rose was a great place for us to enjoy a family getaway. The location is perfect because it was close enough to walk or bike ride to town, but far enough away to avoid crowds. The Adirondack chair in front was a great addition to the restaurant. We stayed in the back hotel and had to change rooms for one night and the staff moved all of our stuff while we were at the beach. Rooms were clean and comfortable.

We were traveling back home from Cape Cod to New York and decided to break up the ride with an overnight stop in Naragansett since we had never been there before.
First impression: very pretty
Location: good location, walking distance to restaurants
two block walk to Coast Guard House (restaurant and rooftop bar) and Oceanside restaurant/bar at the Pier ( breakfast here was very good and bar gets crowded) you can eat either inside or outside, bar is outside. Right behind it are some little shops and ice cream parlor and Dunkin Donuts.
Rooms: we had an oceanfront view king size bed - rooms have been recently renovated and were beautiful - the room itself is not exactly oceanfront, it's actually a two story building behind the lobby/restaurant building but we were able to see the water from our balcony. bed very comfortable, room very clean, has small refrigerator and coffee pot, also has a small couch under the tv.
There is a restaurant in the main building - Turtle Soup which was very good and again, you can eat inside or outside and there are two bars, one in, one out...or you can just sit out on the lawn in adirondack chairs and people watch or dog watch lol..there are dogs everywhere which didn't bother me as i have one myself...
Beach: there are a few public beaches and on a hot day you better get there early if you want to park because a line forms as the day goes on... beaches get very crowded..
All in all, i wasn't very impressed with Narragansett, too quiet, not much to do..

I have stayed at the Ocean Rose before and frankly, it was horrible. Outdated, dirty, and in desperate need of an update. I will say the staff was and still is wonderful, however it was hard to look past the condition of the property. I was amazed on this stay. Clean, well appointed, and impressive. Their website is accurate in their description, branding the inn as beach chic. Great attention to detail with a fresh, modern look. The view has always been the selling point, but with the new rooms, they really have a well rounded property. We dined at Turtle Soup, their onsite restaurant and also had a great experience. Fresh creative food and great friendly service. All in all, Ocean Rose is by far one of the best places to stay in Narragansett. Very much looking forward to a return trip.
