Our family has been visiting since the mid 1980's and the food and service has been consistent all that time. Whether in the off-season or the height of summer, the management seems to ensure adequate and competent staff. In the summer, however, you can expect a wait for a table at dinner.
We recently visited twice in one week for dinner on the back patio. While there is no good ocean view, you can smell the salt water and you are surrounded by greenery. Afternoons can be too sunny there for us.
Many of the fried seafood dishes come in 2 sizes, which I love. The fried whole clams and fish and chips were delicious! Steamers with broth and butter for dipping are always amazing. The lobster salad and lobster roll disappointed our guests because it was solely small bites of lobster with no condiments or seasoning. It is the only place we have been to that the lobster roll is not meat mixed with mayo or butter mixed and celery or other seasoning. The meat itself was good, though.
I recommend this any time of year.
