Didn't have reservations, as it was our 2nd choice, (1st restaurant wasn't what we expected, didn't stay). Waiting time was 45 mins for the two of us, but ended up being just over 30 mins. Bar was crowded with people waiting to be seated, having dinner at the bar or just drinks. Once we were seated, service was very good. For dinner we started with Shrimp cocktail ( U-8s), perfectly cooked and chilled and grilled lamp chops served with sautéed broccoli rabe, Both apps were excellent. For entrees was had simply grilled Salmon, cooked MW, nice portion, fresh and excellent flavor. I had the Sesame Crusted Tuna with Cold Soba Noodles. Tuna was grilled perfectly rare with good flavor, accompaniments including the noodles were very tasty. Beautiful scenery overlooking the ocean even in the rain.

We enjoyed a delicious dinner on a busy Monday night at the Coast Guard House! I'd highly recommend making reservations--had we not, we would have been waiting. I had the best and heirloom tomato salad and the clam chowder. The salad would have been fine as a starter, but I ordered the soup and salad as an entree and found the salad to be pretty small and ordinary. The clam chowder, however, was unbelievable. Definitely the best I've had. My husband had a delicious pear cider and the swordfish, which was also very good.

Burgers, fried eggplant and beer. Haven't had a bad meal or service from any if the three menus this summer. And we have been several times!

It seems the CGH is still having trouble recovering from Hurricane Sandy. For years the food though not exceptional was reliably tasty and plentiful. Since reopening the portions are much smaller and almost everything is extra. I have heard this same thing from others. The last time we were there I ordered a salad and the greens were old. It still has one of the most beautiful settings anywhere but I would recommend going upstairs for a drink and a sandwich.

We had lunch here and although we arrived without reservations with a party of eight, the staff accomodated us eficiently and graciously. There were two small children with us and I would say the dining room is more geared toward adults. We had to ask about a children's menu, but there were ample choices for them. The food was excellent.
