The young man and lady who were running the ticket booth and operating the train were very nice. The open air car we rode on was nice. The ride was mostly through an old railroad cut that did not offer very much to see, unless you enjoy looking at a highway and the back of homes when visible. We were expecting beautiful views of wide open spaces, but only saw a couple of these areas. The ride itself, was a short ride out to a small lake where you stop....look at a few people fishing in their boats, and then you travel back the way you came. The train has an engine on both ends, so it is straight out, and straight back. Little kids enjoyed this ride, but boring for adults.

We took the sunset dinner ride. Dinner was plentiful and tasty, the servers were very polite, efficient and informative. The scenery was marshy at times and scenic at other times but the sunset was beautiful.

Train ride does not ride everyday but we were there to catch the Firework Express to Hammond Lake to see a 4th of July display. We arrived early and was able to get in line so that we were able to ride in the open air car. We were told that some cars did not have air conditioning so we were in good shape. We were also able to stay in the train to watch the fireworks, Ad said to bring blanket to sit outside to watch but really you would be sitting on railroad ballast and weeds. Getting there early was the way to go even if it meant standing in line for about 45 minutes.

We did the dinner train ride. When order your tickets online you chose your meal. We chose the vegetarian scampi. It was spaghetti with carrots, squash, and mushrooms in a garlic Parmesan sauce. They serve salad with soft rolls prior to the entree and cheesecake with coffee for dessert. The food was hot and tasted good. The servers were very friendly. It's an old train and a slow ride through the countryside. The scenery is the same scenery you would see while driving around here-tree covered mountains, wildflowers, backyards, farms, and a lake. The train did start to feel a little warm by the end of dinner (old train probably no AC). At that time we were invited to walk back to the open air car.

We took the sunset train ride last Saturday, was expecting a nice station to browse before taking the train ride, was a little disappointed about that, we sat in the open air car, the closed air car, smelled bad. A nice ride through the mountains.
