We took the sunset train ride last Saturday, was expecting a nice station to browse before taking the train ride, was a little disappointed about that, we sat in the open air car, the closed air car, smelled bad. A nice ride through the mountains.

Best part of the train excursion were the Servers, very pleasant and very efficient. Dinner was good, choice of pork Tenderloin or chicken cordon blue. Scenery was just OK, no narrative, just a lot of weeds and one area with a view of a reservoir in Tioga. The dining car had more room than expected.

Nice relaxing ride. We just went on the 1.5 hour Lakeshore Express. Would like to do the dinner excursion sometime.

This was not the most scenic ride I have been on, but I love trains so that made up for it - lol

Holiday weekend sunset dinner ride lasted about 2 hours. The dinner was very tasty, we both had the roast pork loin. Dinner was small tossed salad, entree was mashed potatoes, almond green beans and a very generous portion of roast pork with gravy and cheesecake for dessert. The view on the right side of the train is much more scenic with views of "the muck" and the lake.. The ride was very smooth with slight rocking.. The staff was very polite and helpful.

This was to be a fun outing with friends. We opted not to dine onboard, just to sit and see the scenery.
Upon arriving we were told the open air car had been removed that day. Unfortunately, the air conditioning was not working in the closed cars. We asked the only employee to walk through our car and were told they were "working on it".
We were sweltering! Windows did not open. Some of our group stood between cars instead of sitting, to get some fresh air. Young kids were fussing loudly; they were certainly aggravated by the heat. We were counting the time till the end of the ride. It was a relief to get off.
I suppose if the cars had been comfy, we would not mind so much the $25 each. Lake Hammond was a pretty sight, but there were stretches of plain old neighborhoods. It would have been nice to have some narration of what we were seeing out the windows, or history of the area, or stories about the train. There were TV screens but they were not used.
The employee who appeared once said they would answer any questions we had, but that's not quite the same thing. And since our question had to do with the A/C, after asking we never saw her again.
