Pamela's Diner is a good choice when visiting Pittsburg, it's reasonably priced, comfortable environment and good food.
The hotcakes, are their staple. They are crispy, tasty and original to Pamela's.
I ordered the Banana Walnut, and it was very good.
They are accommodating if visiting with children. I recommend it.

Went with family. Food was great. Well worth the trip in to town. Short wait. Interesting history on display. Good time.

Stayed at the nearby Quality Inn which offers free parking (Yayyy!!!)...but no free breakfast (Hmmmmm) . But never mind...Pamela's is only a ten minute walk. Tried the triple cheese omelet with potatoes (delicious!) and buttered brown bread. It was awesome! Saw the famous hot cakes on neighboring tables and will try that next time. The wait staff are very friendly and some have a great sense of humor.
Tip: Go early and I mean before 9 am to avoid long lines...but then, again, the wait is worth it!

The ham and cheese sandwich was delicious, as were the salads

Service was cheerful and prompt, even though the place was quite busy

Pamela's P & G Diner is a Pittsburgh institution. I doubt there is anyone in the entire city who hasn't enjoyed a meal, especially breakfast, at Pamela's. Even President Barack Obama found his way to Pamela's to sample the famous crêpe-style pancakes. Pictures and newspaper clippings of the President digging into a plate of huge, crispy pancakes adorn the walls, along with charming photos of random customers and friends, who have enjoyed eating at Pamela's.

Pamela's offers hearty, diner fare for breakfast and lunch. The restaurant is open from 7:30 a.m.--3:30 p.m. everyday except Sunday, when it is open from 8:00 a.m--3:00 p.m. The plates of eggs, pancakes, and other breakfast fare are enormous. Yet, people seem to eat every bite. We always order Pamela's famous crepe hotcakes, stuffed with strawberries and sour cream, topped with whipped cream. It is impossible to describe how delicious these are, and one order is plenty for the two of us to split. Others enjoy the myriad of omelettes available, or the California French Toast, made with raisin bread, or the crispy malted waffle with walnuts, chocolate chips, bananas, strawberries, or blueberries.

The lunch menu includes typical diner fare, such as "Regular ol' Sandwiches," hamburgers, "Edie's Famous Eggs Salad," crispy jumbo fish, beer-battered onion rings, and "Pittsburgh-style Grilled Chicken" (jumbo tossed salad, topped with grilled chicken strips and french fries).

Pamela's accepts only cash, but this slight inconvenience is far outweighed by the restaurant's many strengths. If you are in Pittsburgh, you must go to Pamela's. There are several located around the city. Each one is a gem.
