After an outstanding meal last summer, we were back - this time with good friends... and Black Lab Bistro hit another home run. At one point my friends wife had to say to her husband... "Honey slow down" - we were like little kids... sparks were flying off the plate as it was so good, we couldnt get enough... Great service, great food... I really dont know how this place is overlooked in those fraud "Best Of" rankings by the travel magazines... This is a meal not to be missed!!!!! I am already looking at visit number 3!!!!

We were recently celebrating a friend’s birthday. On a recommendation, we decided on the Black Lab Bistro. It was certainly an excellent choice. This BYOB has a varied menu of dinner choices. We enjoyed the sea scallops, short ribs, crab cakes and shrimp with grits. The Brussel sprout appetizer with bacon was outstanding. For dessert we shared the dense chocolate terrine and an amazing vanilla creme brûlée. The service was perfectly timed, the decibel level allowed for easily heard conversation, and we were allowed to linger with coffee well into the evening.

Our family enjoyed the Easter brunch. The food was delicious and everything was very organized. We were a little leery since there were only three separate seatings but we were waited on right away and each course came in a very reasonable period of time. The food was appropriately hot or cold and cooked as requested. The only negative was that it was very noisy and hard to hear each other, but that would go with the crowd that they had. We will certainly be back.

We enjoyed dinner for two on a Saturday evening. Reservations are a must. We had an early dinner and it was nearly full. There were many waiting when we left around 7:15. The food was excellent. My only objection is the noise level. It is BYOB.

We had a gift card to use from nearly two years ago, so my husband and I trekked out on a cold night to have date night dinner and drinks (BYO). We've been here several times under the old management and were always happy with both the food and service, however that has changed. The food was not great. The best part was the first course and we ordered salads. I would have preferred more of that salad than the steak or scallops that came as the main course. The steak was lacking in salt/pepper and had virtually no flavor as we could not order with the "sauce" because it contained wheat.
The scallops had a pecan, sweet sauce that just got annoying after a couple of bites. The potatoes were bland as were the veggies (asparagus).
For dessert the coffee was delicious and the creme brulee and chocolate torte were also good.
If you want a good dessert and coffee, then come here. If you're hungry for a nice dinner, just pass and try one of the other awesome places on Bridge Street.
