“Pretty nice for the area and price”
Reviewed 27 February 2012

We needed a room for the night due to a volleyball tournament in town that weekend. We also wanted a place with an indoor pool for the kids, since it was the middle of February. Price was also a factor as we would only be at the hotel for a very short period of time.

This fit the bill nicely, but only because a cheaper room opened up at the last minute. While the hotel is fairly up to date, pretty clean and has a nice sized indoor pool, it's not really a resort like they attempt to portray it. The restaurants are nice but the food is just ok. Nothing special but fills the void.

Our room was nice, clean and comfy. The only two things we noticed were hair in the tub and the ac / heater seemed to leak freezing cold air when it wasn't on. But overall the room stayed a comfortable temperature. The mattresses seemed fairly new and the sheets were warm.

The pool area was fairly well kept with a lifeguard on duty, which is pretty fresh are these days. There were plenty of towels but quite a few of the chairs were taken or at least filled with wet towels from the previous owners. The chlorine levels in the pool seemed high, but again this seems to be the norm anymore.

Overall we had a good experience and would consider staying again, if the price were right. We paid less than $100 which for the area seems high but it also seems to be the norm. It's definitely not worth much more than that.

Inside of hotel was nice. Very difficult to get things done in the tiny bathroom and had to stretch backwards for TP. And it was a little grungy around the floor. If you don't have a good room location, the highway noise is frustrating. Was not a fan of coffee maker and cups taking up so much valuable counter space ... in the bathroom. I know ... Weird. On a positive note, the staff was very pleasant and helpful. The pool was great. Restaurants were good . There were a lot of nice interior things. I will stay again but get another type of room.

This is my third visit to this resort and each visit has been terrific, including my last one this weekend. We stayed in a King Villa Suite, which is essentially a loft apartment. The living room and bedroom are in one very large room, with a separate full kitchen (full=-size appliances) and bath. The suite is extremely well appointed and has a fireplace (with a duraflame log provided). Large mounted flat screen that can be seen from the couches and the bed. The bathroom was great, with double sinks out side the separate shower and wc room. Very nice dual shower heads, with tile walk in shower. Spotlessly clean. Everything, from start to finish was clean and well kept.
The villas are not connected to the hotel itself and are perfect if you want total privacy. We tend to stay here as a couple (it is very romantic!). We have stayed in the two-room king suites in the main building when we have our son with us. That way there is a separate space to hang out after he goes to bed and there are two tv's etc. The 2 room suites do not have a full size kitchen, but I liked the bathrooms slightly better in these rooms. The rooms in the main building are better suited for using all of the facilities, although it is very short walk from the villas to the inside pool and this posed no problem for us.
The inside pool area is great and the pool is perfectly heated, and the hot tub very hot. We found both to be jsut right. It was slightly crowded in the afternoon on Saturday on a very cold and windy day, but we had seats and it was not too bad at all. There are rooms that face the pool and some may love that convenience. I also highly recommend the outdoor pool area in the summer. It is unbeatable for the kids. We will be back in the summer for that reason, as well as the amazing rooms and service.
We did not eat at the property this time (had a great dinner at JohnJ. Jeffries!) and I would suggest exploring some of the amazing other restaurants that Lancaster has to offer.
This place is one of my favorites and the most consistent place I have stayed. Highly recommend!

Room Tip: Investigate the room types before you decide. Inside suite vs. outside suite.

I have stayed at this resort at least twice a year for the past 3 years. Once a year with a group of friends and once a year with my family. Every visit has been great. Rooms are clean and well maintained, pool is large with plenty of towels and places to sit, and the food in both Garfield's and Arthur's has been very good. Now some of our friends that have joined us on these yearly trips have come with their families. When you see some of the negative review, you can see that they were years ago. Whatever problems the resort had at that time, have been resolved. We never had any problems with the staff being rude.

Room Tip: If you have children and want to be close to the pool, they have rooms that open out onto the pool...
