Based on reviews we decide to start our time in Amish country at this location. We enjoyed the free film and exhibits that explained about the Mennonites and their differences from the Amish. We hired a private guide to take us to some Amish locations. While we enjoyed some of the sites he showed us, I'm not sure we felt like his narrative was worth the money. I think we could have found most of the places on our own. The center also gave us a great lunch recommendation to try some of the Amish food.

My friend and I were so thrilled to make this our first stop in Lancaster! The information from the tour, movie and the staff were amazing! We learned so much! The store had so many items to look at and buy (we kept thinking limited luggage space). I would strong recommend the Mennonite Information Center as a necessary stop to learn about both the Mennonite and Amish in Lancaster.

We had a tour from the Mennonite Information Centre. Melba was our guide, she was Mennonite but had grown up Amish and came in our car with 2 couples for 3 hours of exploring the Amish farmland. She was born and raised in the area and knew every farm and family and took us to several great shops, farms, quilting shops, bakeries and a covered bridge. She was a very warm, kind lady and gave us the most informative and insightful tour. She took us places we would never have seen otherwise and we wandered through farms because she knows the people. The 3 hours just flew! We’ve never had a tour where a guide comes in our car but it worked so well, was very personalised and very reasonably priced. One of the best tours we’ve ever had!! Absolutely loved it and would highly recommend it. If we could give her 6 stars we would!!

Everyone comes to Lancaster County to see the Amish. It is good to learn about how they and and Mennonites began.
This is a good place to do it. They have short films and a recreation of the hebrew tabernacle. There is also a 10,000 villages store here. Ten Thousand Villages is run by the Mennonites and features handmade items from around the world. The proceeds go back to the artisans.

What a great place to start our Vacation. This charming bookstore, had just about anything you would think of that supported the surrounding culture. It also offers films and I believe tours. We bought quit a few books while we were here.

We are seniors and faithful Christians. We enjoyed the film and especially the Tabernacle exhibit. The shop is filled with interesting material of all varieties. We booked the ride along tour and it was the highlight of our visit. David Fidler was a great guide. He took us to all the places we had hoped for in planning our trip. We saw ladies making root beer, visited dairy farms, crop farms, furniture making, a marvelous covered bridge quilting— and more. We saw the unique Caboose Motel and he suggested a great place for us to dine. Our day was wonderful.

My wife and I were referred to the replica of the tabernacle by some friends back home in Michigan. The cost was nine dollars per person. The lady who gave us a guided tour did a great narration of the history of the Bible Leading up to the building of the tabernacle. We had studied the tabernacle and all of the aspects of it in Bible studies in previous years. It was very interesting to see the size and the replicas of the lampstand in the show bread and the Ark of the covenant. We will recommend it to our friends back home

We thought this tour was great, the woman giving it seemed very knowledgeable but most importantly we could tell she loved Jesus. We had grandparents, 1 teen, 1 tween and my husband and I. It kept the girls interested for most of it. Afterwards we watched the movie which they had many questions about.
The reason for 4 stars is because if you know nothing of the Bible or maybe just a little, you maybe a little lost. The guide assumed people knew the stories and often said remember the story of Moses or you all know.....
Now maybe it’s geared to only believers but I think it would be a great outreach especially because the store itself had such cute and unique items for sale.

Also, I recommend reading Exodus before going to refresh your memory.

It was really cool though!
