Bear Hugs Chalet was the perfect getaway for our college reunion. The house ended up being much nicer than the photos and we always appreciate the detail that goes into making sure the home is very clean. We had rented this same Chalet in 2015 then Tim closed it down for a year to remodel and the upgrades were awesome. We had 12 people and the games kept everyone occupied as 4 people can play shuffleboard while 4 shoot pool and 4 play foosball. The games are completely top-notch, super sweet for a mountain rental. The hot tub seats 6 which we never had that many in because the guys and girls ended up splitting up throughout the week as we played Paintball at Skirmish while the girls went to the spa for massages and whatever else girls get done.
The kitchen was very nice with brand new everything from pots to every appliance which also seem almost too nice for a mountain Chalet. The deck is massive which is nice for grilling out and watching all the wildlife, it is also super private with no homes below the property. The property is actually quite large, Tim said it's like an acre but it seems larger because we can't see any homes below his house.
We walked home from the clubs and restaurants, Big Boulder is 2 minutes away and Split Rock Golf Courses are just on the other side of the lake. We already booked for one of the races at Pocono Speedway as we're huge into NASCAR and we're going to mountain bike that same week. He has Lakefront access for boating and playing beach volleyball as well as swimming which we enjoyed the second to last time we rented. No one is more helpful and he gave us a repeat renter discount which was cool because his rates are already more fair than the rest of the homes in the same area.
We'll be back, 5 stars for sure!
There was something nearby for everyone. skiing , Restaurants, shopping , Many little shops close by in the Jim Thorpe area. A great Time.
My parents loved the view off the deck as they like to sit out and enjoy the mountain air. Working with Tim is like renting from family. He was so over the top attentive prior to our stay to help us plan the perfect family getaway. We were just around the corner from Big Boulder Ski Mountain and Jack Frost Mountain is just on the other side of the lake so skiing, tubing and fun -right there!
We loved the Indoor Water Park H200000 Water Park then the next day we went to Aquatopia Water Park which was super close as Camelback Mountain and Camelbeach are super close too. The house has more games than I think are shown here and had all the creature comforts to help us relax. Very little traffic if any as it's in a high end area close to the fun bars and restaurants as well as the spa and fitness center where there is a bowling alley, arcade and much more. The chalet was just remodeled so everything was in beautiful shape and Tim was incredible helping us find all his favorite local hot spots. We already booked again for The Pocono Raceway races.
We loved our stay at Bear Hugs Chalet as Tim went above and beyond helping us to have the best ski vacation. We skied Jack Frost & Big Boulder as well as Camelback Mountain and Ski Shawnee. At night we loved the hot tub with awesome lights and the kids loved all of the games.
The house was loaded with more games than any other we have stayed at before. The TVs were new 4K and we could access the Internet on them and watch Netflix in addition to the satellite for the games. Beds seemed brand new and the bedding clearly was as well. We loved the views from the home and the privacy along with the big deck for grilling steaks and watching deer. The kitchen had everything we needed from coffee filters to dishwasher soap and every extra. The dining room table expanded to accommodate our big Italian family.
There are three huge indoor waterparks right close by! H20 Waterpark is right in the development maybe 2 or 3 minutes, then we went to Aquatopia Waterpark and Camelbeach as well as Kalahari but we didn't play at Kalahari- the kids just wanted to see it and we decided on H20 since it had the same as Aquatopia. There is also a fun arcade in Lake Harmony as well as a bunch of great places to eat and bowling too.
Tim was great to work with and sent tons of info from Skirmish Paintball and Pocono Whitewater rafting which we are planning to come back in the spring for during a Dam release when the water is high! We're huge 4-Wheel Off Road people and Bear Hugs is close to The Paragon Off Road Park so we'll book a guys weekend to Golf at Split Rock Golf Club and Off-Road at Paragon and maybe shoot guns at the shooting range nearby too.
