Airlie House is a very comfortable country style hotel/motor inn to stay. Our room was spacious, bed comfortable complete with a small table and 2 comfortable chairs. TV, kettle and microwave in the room and a small fridge. Nice and clean even if the décor is a little bit dated. Easy to park right outside your room so makes it easy to unpack.
Walking distance to everything in the main centre of town. Friendly and efficient staff who are also helpful regarding any questions about the town.
The complimentary continental style breakfast is a good way to start the day. It is a buffet style so you can help yourself. Cereal, yoghurt, toast, tea, coffee, juice, fruit.
It is quite close to the train line so could be a bit noisy if you're a light sleeper but I used ear plugs and I was fine.
Overall a pleasant stay and I would recommend Airlie House.

Motels often have a "closed up" smell, even if they are clean, but Airlie House did not, so immediately made a positive impression. The room was light because it has a lovely big window to let in natural light, was very clean and fresh, well kept and no aging or dating. The bed was Queen sized and comfortable, warm which is needed in winter! Breakfast (continental) was complementary in the historic house that gives the property its name, and was a lovely touch to a very reasonable tarrif. Highly recommended.

This was just a stop over night and as I had noticed this old building on previous trips I wanted to satisfy my curiosity. The old residence was originally a doctor's home and the property became a motel in the late 50's. Our night was spent in one of the motel room additions to the side of the historic residence. The room was ample size, renovated at some stage . Comfortable enough, good bed, toaster( though breakfast is in the stay package) . The hot water is slow and tricky in the shower until you get it right- then fine.
Delightful to have continental breakfast in the old residence! There is a bar and restaurant but it was not running during our stay.
