Visitor Information Centres are always our first stop and are not only a wealth of printed information and great maps but staff are always helpful and friendly.

Scone is no exception - we were well advised of all Scone had to offer by a very knowledgable lady who made brilliant suggestions for us regarding our interests and time available. One of these suggestions was visiting the Washing Pools - an absolute hidden gem we were thrilled to visit and photograph and another was Burning Mountain Walk - another fantastic and interesting experience.

Free maps and plenty of travel, sightseeing advice. Metal cut outs of horses to have your photo taken with. Across the road from mare and foal sculpture.

We dropped into the Scone Information Centre to find out about things to do in the local area.
The young lady was really happy, friendly and helpful giving us lots of good ideas.
Scone is horse capital of Australia and the centre has a great display of the history of horses in Australia and has a great display of different bits.

This is a stunning little visitor centre set back in a parkland... so even walking into it gives you a sense of tranquility. There is plenty of parking nearby and there are toilets that are very clean.

Inside the information centre they have an information set up for people interested in the thoroughbred horses that the area is well known for. So anyone interested in the racing industry or horses really should stop and spend some time here. ( It's not something I am usually interested in...but I found it interesting to learn about)

There are gifts and other touristy stuff as well. The staff member we encountered was lovely and was happy to explain the area to me.
