I'll be back
5.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 27 Feb 2024
The accommodation was excellent and meticulously cleaned every day.
Ned's beach ( the best beach on the island) just a short 1 minute stroll through the palm trees, and a flat 10 min walk into town.
Grace and Steve the hosts were amazing, from the airport transfers, driving us to our restaurants and booking our day trips in advance so we didn't miss out. Their local knowledge of the island was very useful, and we felt more like locals that guests.
Can't wait to go back.
Date of stay: January 2024
Room Tip: Speak to the hosts, they know everything about the island, and will give you some really good...

The positives - This apartment has everything you'd need on Lord Howe Island, minus good WiFi (but you don't need that on the island anyway), and is a short 2-3 minute walk from beautiful Ned's Beach. The cost of accommodation includes vouchers for rental bikes and snorkeling gear, and airport transfers. The apartment itself is bright, airy, and cheerful.

    ---

I have to leave a 3-star review however because the holiday was soured by interactions with the host on the penultimate day. The host had our flight itinerary well in advance of arrival and chose the second last day to tell us we had to check out at 10AM when the departing flight was 3PM.

When asked about this, she suggested I didn't know 10AM was 'standard checkout in Australia' and she didn't feel the need to tell inform us of this in advance; imagine how belittled this made me feel as a local (Australian PR since 2021) and spend about a month in hotels every year.

Second, and worst, she informed us we'd have to be dropped at the airport *105 minutes!* prior to departure and she'd get intro trouble if not. The Qantas website clearly states domestic check-in closes 30 minutes before departure, but we were at Grace's mercy.

The reality is the host had guests arriving earlier and didn't want to make round trip drive to the airport twice, I promise you she wouldn't have to deal with rush hour traffic on this idyllic island.

She chided me instead, suggesting 2 hours spent in the waiting room at LDH was comparable to the beautiful outdoors. Fibbed about airline check-in time (offering me a scanned copy of a sheet showing what time check-in *opens*), and said she had just the one car (you see two vehicles with the residence's decals on every time you enter it).

Undertones of intolerance - I was greeted with the phrase "I'm not even going to bother pronouncing your name", and repeated warnings to avoid the restaurant "Miss Saigon" (other travelers and workers assured as they loved the restaurant), the sour departure interaction, and at 1200 hour a night I would highly recommend staying elsewhere on this beautiful island.

If you choose to stay here, ensure you've explicitly discussed checkout procedures and go armed with the Qantas documentation for check-in times.

I am sorry you felt this way - if you read ALL of our reviews they are nothing but perfect - you have to understand that Qantas check-in times are different to Qantaslink check-in times which require you to be at the airport earlier that Qantas - also when you have a guest arriving the same day you are leaving and the apartments has to be perfectly clean we need to ask you to check out by 10am and then we pick you up from where ever you suggest and take you to airport offer you free hot or cold drinks or you can stay in our transit room which you didn't want to do and fair enough and also all I said about your name was how do you pronounce 'Adithyavenk' I apologise if you got the wrong idea.

Admiralty Apartments have much to rave about - short walt to the divine Ned's Beach, beautiful setting, superb hosts are top of the list. Closely following is the apartment we stayed in itself. It was spacious, well-appointed, had everything we needed, and had a comfortable luxury feel to it. Lord Howe Island is my happy place and as a testament to the island and the Admiralty Apartments accommodation, we have booked again for the same time next year.

We stayed at Admiralty Apartments for 6 nights and were both very impressed. On arrival there was a hamper of basics including eggs, milk, bread, fruit, dips, crackers, wine and cheese which was a lovely surprise (especially as grocery stores are not open long hours). Kitchen very well appointed and you could certainly do a lot of cooking here - even BBQ and BBQ utensils on the deck. Interior decorating was gorgeous in both living area, bedroom and bathroom. Full sized bath and rain head shower dominated the luxurious bathroom. Best of all, a simple walk to Neds Beach which was our favourite snorkle / swim spot on the island. The apartment was also well equiped with beach chairs, beach shelter and 2 luxurious very large Sheraton beach towels and 2 Tesalate Beach towels. Each night the owners, Grace or Steve, would drop us out for dinner and advise about Island activities and places to eat. When in the apartment it was so peaceful, only noise was the bird song. We will definitely stay again. Kathy and Douglas

I'm certain that our hosts at Admiralty Apartments would have done a lot more for us but they couldn't because they had done absolutely everything for us already! We found the modern, clean, spacious apartment a joy to live in. It was well equipped with a washing machine and dryer, a dishwasher as well as a welcome basket of breads, biscuits, fruits, chocolates and a bottle of wine. The wetroom bathroom was a joy to bathe in. The apartment had its own 45 second walk to Neds Beach through a private track in the rain forest where we able to swim, feed the fish, walk, enjoy amazing fish'n'chips at Benny's Van, and generally be in awe at the beauty that surrounded us on Lord Howe Island. As if the island with its walks, cycles, hikes, swims, and coral and snorkeling boat tours wasn't enough to tempt us back, the Admiralty Apartments themselves would do so. We'll definitely return to both.

Came here with my partner and had high expectations after reading the reviews.
First impressions, very very good if not exceptional.
The layout of the apartment is very nice and if you have a choice of apartments, get #1.
The inclusions are better than you’d get at a five star hotel (but you are paying 5-6 star prices remember). Every cupboard and drawer has another thing that you could use but maybe you don’t need to. It’s just like home from having a coffee machine to a mixer to full kitchen to full bathroom features. The list goes on. Foxtel, tv, music, fans, bbq, deck, bath, great bed and linen and towels.
Grace and Steve are very friendly hosts and you can ask them anything anytime.
The proximity to Ned’s beach is the real winner here as it’s one of the best protected beaches from the winds plus the fish feeding is fun to do. Lots of people come here too.
If I had one single thing to whine about, it might be that the shower soap dispenser wasn’t topped up the last few days but I used a soap bar instead.
If I came back here, I’d stay here again 1,000%.
