Stayed at the old Rangers Residence for 4 nights with 5 other people. Plenty of room and a great fire pit outside to stay warm and toast marshmallows. We had to bring all linen and towels. The Residence has air condioning in all rooms (3 bedrooms).
The walks in the park are fabulous with a range of vegetation and plenty of wildlife including lyrebirds. Some sections do need a bit of care. The walking distances are reasonable and tge tracks are broken up in a way that you can choose to do more in a day. Beautiful bit of Australia...

Had last weekend in New England National Park to celebrate a significant birthday. We rented The Residence which was a delightful surprise. Spacious enough for 10 of us - didn't matter that the weather was damp and foggy, we had several walks in the beautiful forest, had an extended special time with a lyre bird and lots of food and fun back home. Definitely recommend it !

This is a great spot for people who love walking in remote areas.
We camped at the Thungutti site which is on the western side of the park. There is a good unsealed road into the park. The camp ground is well maintained and has a gas BBQ area, camping sites with fire pits (they provide firewood), drop toilets and a cold shower (it is really cold). There is tap water but it is not drinkable.
The wildlife is great, we saw kangaroos and many different birds including Lyre birds.
The walks are outstanding and well maintained but they are rough and steep.
The views from the many different lookouts are spectacular.

A very beautiful national park with excellent views and walks through a variety of flora zones.
We normally do bush walks in less than the recommended times however we noticed in the case of New England that this was not the case. I suspect it's because of the time spent at lookouts and the time spent on the large amount of downhill and uphill. The gradings are accurate and should be paid attention to.
Our 9 year old handled it all well. I'd have a good think before taking much younger kids on the longer walks.

We camped at the Thungutti site during a cold snap and were grateful for the supplied firewood to keep us warm. There are great views from Point Lookout and the Weeping Rock walk is really magical. The park has some accommodation for rent if you don't like camping. Nearby Ebor Falls are worth a visit too.
