Thanks for taking the time to share your thoughts on your flight with us. We are very sorry to hear that you feel that we are anything but upfront in our description of our experience. Not all of our Byron Bay flights launch and fly along the coast and this is communicated on our website - we clearly list the locations that you may be flying from which include the Byron Bay region, the Hinterland, Bangalow, Mullumbimby, Nimbin & Lismore. Which area we launch from is completely dependent on the wind direction and other weather factors on the morning.

We understand that you were disappointed by the pilots choice of launchsite on the morning and that you didn’t get to see the sunrise. However your pilot Emi was very clear is explaining to all passengers why it was necessary to use the Lismore launchsite. As your balloon launched he pointed out the heavy cloud and coastal showers that were occurring over the Byron region at the time. A flight in that area was just not possible on the day and due to the heavy cloud to the east it would not of been possible to see the sunrise either. This is the case with all weather dependant activities and this is why we make no guarantees about seeing the sunrise. I am very sorry if you feel that our website in any way suggested that you were guaranteed of seeing the sunrise.

We are a bit confused about your mention of cow poo as you launched from a golf driving range that does not have any cows and although you landed on a working farm, there have not been cows in the field you landed in in over a month. Perhaps you included this detail for comedic effect. We do let all our passengers know that it is advisable to dress as though you are going for a hike and to wear enclosed, waterproof shoes. You can see this information at the very top of the second page of your booking confirmation under the head ‘What to wear’.

As mentioned in our previous email communication, we hate to see any of our passengers underwhelmed by their experience with us, so please feel free to contact us should you be visiting the area again in the future and we will be happy to take you both for another flight, however we again cannot guarantee which of our flight areas we will launch from or that you will be able to see the sunrise on a future flight. These things are determined by the weather and are, of course, beyond our control.
