We spent two relaxing days in a 2 bedroom cabin with an enclosed balcony with our 2 Jack Russells. We loved the bush all around, short walk through the forest to the estuary and long, unspoilt, dog-friendly beach. We enjoyed the pool complete with pool table and table tennis as well as feeding the resident bush turkeys. Facilities were everything we needed, rustic, with a very comfortable bed. The owners were very friendly and helpful.

We decided to stay for one night at Byron and grabbed one of the last rooms available at the Rainforest Resort, about a 3 minute drive into Byron.
Barbara checked us in and was extremely helpful and friendly, plus passed on some great local tips. Resort is a bit run down though under new management who are cleaning it up. Think $490 a night was a little high for the standard of the resort (we had just come from The Beach at Cabarita Beach which was cheaper, heated pool and right on the beach), though our cabin was clean, had a/c and comfy beds with great linen. Plus our kids were totally absorbed by the wildlife around our cabin - frog, kookaburra and bush turkey. They had a great time exploring, in the pool and playing in the games room.
Thanks to Barbara for settling us in quickly and ahead of check in time!

Unbelievable how they got so high ratings!
The room was dirty, very badly cleaned.
Kitchen stuff looks like a second hand sale.
Hundreds of insects then the night came, ants, cockroaches and other species and a 10 cm spider in the room.
All because of several big cracks thru the floor and all the dirt which causes the critters to come and stay.
We paid 621 AUD for two nights on this horrible stay!
It was our most expensive stay in our 3 weeks in Australias high season.
I WOULD'NT STAY HERE AGAIN EVEN IF IT WAS FOR FREE!!

Room tip: Don´t stay at this resort!

We had a lovely stay here. The accommodation is simple and set in beautiful bush. I can honestly say that my stay here nourished me completely. You can walk along a bush trail to the beach and be just far away from the Byron rat race and enjoy an authetic ‘original’ Byron experience. The host Phil is really friendly and helpful in suggesting options for food and other great things to do.

I had a relaxing and tranquil experience staying at Byron Bay Rain forest Retreat. The property managers were very kind and attentive in ensuring I had a comfortable stay. They were very accommodating of my pet dog. He also enjoyed his stay. My cabin was spacious, clean and most importantly provided natural light which was soothing to wake up to and to read and relax. Their facilities are very handy and I appreciated how environmentally conscious they are at the resort. I highly recommend this place to stay. Thanks Phil, Barb and Jane for looking after us.
