Review of Links House
4.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 22 Apr 2019
What a pleasant experience at this unexpectedly beautiful property.
We were greeted with friendliness and a delicious glass of chocolate port (which we bought 2 bottles of).
Even though we only really slept at Links House (we spent all our 3 days at a local Easter Church event) our rooms were made up each day on our late arrival each night.
Breakfast on Sat morning was very special in the sunny breakfast room. Hot breakfast and lovely views of trees and gold course in distance).
A shame we couldn't take advantage of the roaring fireplace and serene atmosphere.
Room had everything we needed and we loved the old world charm.
Late one evening we were even greeted affectionately by the local cat.
A suggestion for future would be to start breakfast half an hour earlier at 7:30am so we could enjoy it longer without rushing to our event.
Hopefully we will return and be able to enjoy the place people.
Well done Links house!

I paid for my son from WA to stay there for three nights (11th-13th April) and he thought the cooked breakfasts each morning were well worth my money. However, when I went to pay there was not only a discrepancy about the price I had been given and what they wanted to charge but the most disappointing aspect of this process was the 25 minutes it took the staff member to process it despite another woman standing behind me the entire time.

Room tip: All rooms appear to be of a similar standard from what I saw but their en-suites are very small as it dates from 1928.

This small but charming hotel in Bowral will satisfy the most discerning traveler seeking a quintessential southern highland old world experience. This hotel is 90 years old plus, and doesn’t have the most modern fixtures and fit out, but that isn’t what you visit the South Highlands for. My wife and I recently visited for two nights. We found the room and bathroom size sufficient, for our short stay. There is a pleasant and well sunned dining room, serving breakfast and dinner. We enjoyed an excellent dinner one evening and a la cart breakfast each morning.

There is also a cosy sitting room, with open fire and bar, to quietly enjoy the cool Autumn nights.

The staff, like the hotel, are uniquely Australian. Having traveled in many countries, and throughout Australia, I particularly enjoyed the charm of ‘adult’ Australian staff at Links House.

It has been many years since I had a better steak. The Black Angus ribeye was sublime and cooked to perfection. My wife enjoyed the fish pie. Breakfast was equally good. The fruit plate had 7 different fruits. The Eggs Royal were poached exactly how they should be done.

Staff on the front desk and restaurant were friendly and efficient.

The bed room was basic or minimalist. However the public rooms were very comfortable.

We arrived back from NZ and decided to drive to Bowral to spend a night before heading back to Canberra. Links House was lovely, staff were very friendly and helpful, we were even offered breakfast despite being half an hour late and not expecting it at all. Beds are very comfortable. It was great, great location close to the Main Street with great cafes, restaurants and shops. would love to come back in the winter and sit by the fire it would be so cosy

This purpose built, 90 year old hotel is an absolute gem. Quiet and peaceful. Lovely sitting rooms with open fire and bar. Breakfast was included. The dining room is small and cosy. All the rooms were very comfortable with small but adequate ensuites with all the inclusions you would expect.
No air conditioning in the rooms but ceiling fans, which is all we needed.
Lovely leafy outdoor area with a giant game of Jenga, croquet, bowls for our entertainment.
Only a couple of minutes drive from Bowral.
A real step back in time experience with all the comforts of the 21st century.
Loved it!
