Awful place.

1.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 23 Apr 2024
Dreadful hotel, mice in the room, woke me up eating the chips on the bench. There is no overnight reception so had to stay awake. I was moved next morning but someone else in my group also saw a mouse. The staff just laughed it off " you are in the country" . It isn't good enough. Don't stay there.
Date of stay: March 2024
Room Tip: Don't go there, Rooms old, TV wouldn't work and the mice.

One night here to break Sydney- Canberra journey and to avoid morning traffic in predicted rain. Surprisingly pleasant and would be a good base for a longer visit to Southern Highlands. As shown in photo ground level units opening looking out on the duck pond. Gazebo and 2 tennis courts. Buffet breakfast available for about $25 in a pretty room in the same complex. Dinner was enjoyable at a seperately run Briars Restaurant up some outdoor railed steps. Mains $35 but substantial

Room tip: Restaurant large but popular (on a Wed night) and dinner service stops at 9 so phone ahead. Out door areas would be good in daylight

A midweek lunch with friends. This was a gorgeous setting with options of inside & out. The food here was excellent, the setting was really lovely & the staff were friendly. We sat here for hours enjoying the environment, drinking red wine..

Was supposed to stay here for 2 nights but decided to leave after one night. I have paid in full for 2 nights but I just could not bring myself to stay another night.
When we walked into the room the stench of old and mouldy carpet greets you. It is a very old motel and has not been maintained well. There are rust on the bathroom floor, bath tub has rust spots and the carpets are so old. To me showering in the bathroom makes me feel that I needed another shower when I get home.
Room is a good size but the rooms need a face lift so badly.
The cupboards and furniture in the room gives you an idea when was the last time they renovated the hotel.
Happy to give this place a miss and we were happy to be checking out the next day.

Great atmosphere, good food. Upper class pub style but food better than that. Have been a couple of times and never disappointed. Shared slow roasted lamb shoulder with sides of steamed greens and duck fat potatoes. Good coffee. Great for group lunch.

The spacious room was excellent with crisp bedding and firm matras. All amenities you could want are present. Bathroom is tight, the storage area between room and bathroom is very clever for travellers. Staff is very friendly, the provided wifi however is non existent in the rooms (#17) which is inconvenient for foreigners (for whom data is expensive). Good, quiet stay and the nextdoor restaurant convenient and good, even though we hate the countermeal concept (as present everywhere in Australia)
