Visited the tourist centre this morning and found so much to do in Bourke we may have to stay longer. The staff at the Centre were fabulous. They are so friendly and informative and could not do enough for us. You need hours if you want to do the exhibition justice. All the things we learned in primary school about our history in Australia came flooding back. Good videos, great audio files on people of prominence from the past, we loved it. Highly recommended.

The lady who greeted us was like a breath of fresh air. She was friendly and gave advice on what to see in town.
We decided against the exhibition as at $23 entry per adult, we thought it was a tad expensive.

Great value for money and friendly staff. Exceeds expectations. Quieter in the hotter summer months. Had the whole centre to myself during this period which didn’t bother me at all.

We are traveling all the way round Australia. Through the middle up and across. Trying hard not to miss too much.
We were passing through Bourke when we came upon this place. Its huge. Awesome Air Conditioning and at 41 degrees outside most welcome. The displays including the video are just great. Absolutely recommend this place.

For such a nostalgic town(for some), and a somewhat curious place for people to visit who are interested in not only the states history but the nations, this centre is fantastic.
On my four visits back to Bourke for work, something is always learnt with each visit to this tourist information centre.
And please take the tour within the centre itself, full of information and a nice walk down memory lane of this well known Town.
Don't be afraid to ask for help in the information centre, and maybe pick up a book about this area and the people who made it the town it is.
You'll find the people who work at this centre a good reflection of the people in this town, willing to help and full of pride for this town/region.
And if you're lucky enough that the cafe/restaurant is open, grab a seat, read a book there and just chill. Beautiful atmosphere.

Enjoy your stay, and spend another day.
