We have just returned from four nights staying at the Barham Lakes Caravan Park. My daughter chose the park for our stay after reading reviews from other travellers on holiday park websites. It's part of the Family Parks chain in Australia and located about 3 hours from Melbourne.
Although this is not the biggest park we have stayed in, their sites are huge and in fact the largest we have ever encountered. So big that it easily accommodated our caravan with annex, portable gazebo, car and still had room left over. It was a bonus to find the sites were grassed particularly in the heat and were able to walk around bare foot. The park also has ensuite cabins. We were impressed with the cleanliness of the park and the toilet blocks. The office supplies your daily newspapers, ice and other basic food supplies as well as some fishing gear.
There is an in-ground swimming pool which is very cool in the heat of the day and well shaded by trees. The playground caters for the young kids and includes a sandpit. The park is also pet friendly.
The park is located about one and half kilometres from the centre of the Barham township which makes it a quiet location on the banks of the Murray River. It's location also makes an easy drive to Echuca - about 50 minutes way & Swan Hill about the same.
The hosts - Shane and Helen are some of the nicest persons you will ever meet. If you want some fishing tips for the area, Shane is knowledgeable with current tips to improve your chances of catching a big cod, yellow belly etc.
Overall we had a relaxing stay and hope that you enjoy your stay as much as we did. I've included some photos for your viewing pleasure.
