Pity that the beach right next to the caravan park isn't dog friendly

3.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 29 July 2016
Whilst the camping grounds itself are dog friendly, it was such a shame that the beach right on its doorstep isn't dog friendly (for conservation purposes). Had I known that the closest dog beach was about 20 minutes drive away (Patches Beach), I probably would have reconsidered purchasing yet another value for money deal from Scoopon. My travel companion and I were a bit dismayed about the cabin not being fully self-contained (we had to use public toilets and showers) but that explained the price of the deal ($129 for 2 nights). Due to a lack of shrubbery and greenery, my companion and I felt a lack of privacy, particularly on the outside deck. In any case, our overall experience was pleasant; the staff were friendly, we were able to sit in front of the brazier (which you can hire - you can buy wood there for $16 a bag) and of course, the highlight for us was being able to take the 4WD out on an almost deserted beach (can't say what it's like on a weekend though). There's a cafe onsite and a common undercover barbecue area. One thing that sets this park apart from most is that it offers a range of accommodation to suit your budget/preferences.

Hello Tanya, thank you for your review. Yes the distance between our property and the dog friendly beach is 17kms. Our onsite dog walking track is 25mins long. Our website has maps, plus directions etc, and an explanation why that is. The Scoopoin deals are great, but we do find that people buy without reading all the information, or picking the level of deal that would suit them best - hence they don't see that they have a budget and not a superior cabin for instance. The superior cabins are very nice - all linen supplied, bathroom, good size kitchen, Austar, flat screen tv, and much more. Can I suggest that you try the Superior Scoopon deal, I think you would enjoy this more. Look forward to having you back. Thank you for taking the time to review our site. Rikki and the team.

Although you have to cross the ferry to get to this park from Ballina, it is well worth it. This pet friendly park which is very large has a cafe which serves dinner. We had Xmas in July while we were there. There is a pet friendly beach a few kms down the road. And there is a 4WD beach there as well.

Hello Glen and Kerrie - thank you for taking the time to give us a review. Yes we are 8km to the centre of town via the Ferry, but frankly it could be a million miles away. We are 'Gilligans Island' and all in a world of our own. Very pleased you enjoyed Christmas in July and hope you can make it back soon. Kindest regards, Rikki and the Team, Ballina Beach Village.

Stayed here for two nights after getting a voucher online. From the moment I rang to book the staff were really helpful and friendly. The park itself is beautiful with some great sites to choose from. Will definitely be back. Would definitely recommend to other campers especially those who have kids

We are locals and wanted something fun to do on the weekend with the kids so we booked one night in the Tepee. Beds were comfy, powered site, enjoyed marshmallows by the fire, swim in the pool, sandcastles on the beach and board games before bed. fell asleep to the sound of the ocean waves,Woke to the chorus of birds in the surrounding trees. The staff went out of there way to ensure we were well catered for. We had a wonderful weekend adventure.
