This unique cinema has been established for many decades, going back to 1948. It is well known to those who live on the NSW Central Coast or who have holidayed there over the years. Whilst it is in a heritage listed building it is quite modern inside with superb seating both in terms of comfort and spacing but with excellent tiering so that wherever you sit you get a great view of the screen. There is a small kiosk with the usual sweets, soft drinks, and choc-top ice creams as well as wines. The latest films are usually on show and many times through the day and they often have special mood events with live opera and concerts by satellite from around the world as well as one-off concert events such as pianists (David Helfgott performs here regularly). A great place to visit and thoroughly recommend it when you are on the Central Coast. The owners have, for some time now, been trying to expand the building whilst keeping the heritage nature but adding a smaller set of theatres, which makes sense, but they have sadly run into problems with the local council. If they did expand (without losing the special feel) it would allow for more showings and allow expansion of the numbers films available. Do visit this lovely little cinema - you'll fall in love with it as we have.
