We've just come back from a week in Kingsand, staying at the lovely Cairn Cottage. It is a large 5 bedroomed cottage which happily accommodated 10 (teenagers and adults). The kitchen is extremely well equipped with everything we needed for large family meals. The rooms are tastefully decorated and I have to say the most comfortable bed I have had the pleasure of sleeping on on holiday.
The mark of a great owner is the response when things don't always go to plan. The local community rallied when Kate, the owner, sent an SOS text when the boiler temporarily broke. We were stocked up with logs and heaters within an hour. Everything was fixed and working in the shortest time. It in no way spoiled our holiday, we just stoked up the wood burner and had a cosy night in.
Cairn Cottage is a short walk away from the lovely beaches of Kingsand-Cawsand and some nice welcoming pubs and cafes. We parked for the week in the car park, which is also very close to the cottage and could easily have left it there for the week. Everything we needed was on our doorstep. The weather helped, as we had some lovely walks along the coastal path.
We can't wait to return and Cairn Cottage will be our first choice of holiday cottage. Amazing!
We stayed here for the weekend for my sons HMS Raleigh Pass Out Parade.
The cottage is perfect for a large family group and caters for all needs.
Everyone had a great time at the house which is big enough for three generations of family to share.
It is a stones through from the beach and a couple of cozy pubs in a village we enjoyed exploring.
We will be booking to come and stay again soon
Cairn Cottage is a beautiful large spacious accommodation for a large family holiday. I knew the location was perfect with regard to the beach, restaurants/pubs, bakery/café, mini supermarket, car park, water sport activities and coastal walking but I had never stayed in the village of Kingsand before so when I saw the advert for Cairn Cottage I booked it and I am happy to write a review with positive feedback.
The owners of this Cottage have thought of everything and very child friendly. The décor is tastefully done throughout. All the bedrooms are tastefully decorated with lots of storage space and no clutter. The loft bedroom is enormous but cosy at the same time with it's own bathroom and very private. The lounge has the biggest fire place which adds character to the room. We did not have to light the log burner as the weather wasn't that cold but I can imagine the effect it would have if we had lit it. The entrance hall/area was the perfect size for leaving beach games, beach chairs, bags, shoes, coats, pushchair etc. without having to fall over them every day The kitchen was spacious and had everything you need to feel at home. The cottage is full of character. Everywhere you look you can see it's age but it has a modern feel to it when it comes to electrical appliances and the whole cottage is clean with fresh linen and towels provided. The owners also have someone who takes care of the gardening and odd jobs around the cottage. We had the opportunity to meet the gentleman and he sorted out a couple of things for us which I thought was great not only for us but for the next guests who would be staying in the cottage after us. This sort of communication was appreciated all round.
Overall I would say to anyone looking for a holiday home to accommodate a large family, Cairn cottage should be considered. It's just a wonderful cottage with character. We were not disappointed. Thank you so much.
