Park is a great place for family activity but I found the house a bit disappointing, only one level is open and the lighting is very dull. Nothing to wow about

At a loose end today, and being National Trust members we took a look at Osterley House. The intricate detail of the internal decoration, the design, the man hours of work that went into it, all shouted out the extreme wealth of the owner, which of course was the intention.

If you are interested in architecture do go.

For me, looking at the grand building from the outside didn't work. It is not elegant, but rather oddly designed, to my eyes. But the inside was something else.

We'll go back there in the summer and explore the extensive grounds.

Really hard to believe this is in London, the estate is quite big. The house is in fantastic condition and renovation work is taking place in a few rooms.
The cafe is the usual national trust set up, it’s located in the stables and is a great space plus lots of outdoor seating.
There’s a second hand bookshop and the usual shop.
The only downside was the ladies toilets which were just awful, dirty very badly kept. Really just horrible

Good place to go, feed the ducks and nice cafe and shop.

Downside - parking is expensive for short visit and entry fees in summer also very expensive.
