“Well equipped house in great location”
Reviewed 23 September 2015 for a stay in September 2015

We booked this house as a base for a weekend of walking in the surrounding countryside. It's location right in the centre of Devizes, with private parking, was ideal for a short stroll to the local pubs and restaurants after a hard day's tramping. We found the house itself to be spacious for the four of us, comfortable, pleasantly decorated and very well equipped. We will definitely use it again as a base next time we are in the area.

Thankyou so much for your very positive review. Wiltshire is certainly a county with much to offer but is sometimes forgotten and used as a gateway to other places. We were pleased to hear that the house worked well for you and look forward to perhaps hearing from you again in the future.
Best wishes

“Couldn't have found a more perfect, charming place!”
Reviewed 21 September 2015 for a stay in September 2015

I visited Devizes with my sisters, mother, and niece, to explore the town my family originated from. The Jackson's house was so lovely, clean, updated, quiet, large, and convenient. I could keep going on! I wouldn't change a thing, other than the wifi was a bit spotty. A small price to pay for a spectacular place. Luckily, there was a bedroom and 1/2 bath on the main floor so my elderly mother didn't have to climb the stairs (which are a bit tricky.) We've stayed in many private rentals, and this one had to be one of the best. I loved how it was right in the town, around the corner of shops and restaurants. It was lovely, inside and out.

What a great review, thankyou so much! We do try really hard to keep the house up to date and comfortable for our guests, so your appreciation was gratefully received. We were pleased that you all enjoyed your stay in Devizes and that the house worked well for you. Thankyou for leaving the house in such good order, always a welcome surprise and for your lovely comments in our visitors book. If you or any of your family or friends would like to stay at West View House or The Manse, our cottage in Marlborough in the future we'd be really happy to hear from them.
Very best wishes

“If you want the best!”
Reviewed 4 September 2015 for a stay in August 2015

This was a hidden gem right in the heart of Devizes. Our group consisted of six adults looking to see the town and visit a few local hostelries. Sue and Richard made our stay with their warm welcome and abundance of local knowledge. The house is homely, clean, and all fixtures, fittings and furnishings are of good quality. Definitely a place to go back to if we wish to see Devizes again.

“Splendid holiday partly due to the very comfortable and lovely West View house.”
Reviewed 24 August 2015 for a stay in August 2015

The second week of a wonderful holiday in the UK.
Found via Holiday Lettings and booked based on the excellent reviews.

We were staying in West View house from aug 1 to aug 8 with family (8 persons).
After a warm welcome by Richard and Sue, who were great hosts during this week, we were first amazed by the luxurious kitchen that really has more quality and comfort than we ever would expect: it even included a steam oven. Although the house is in the middle of the center, you can hardly hear any noise from the street, even when sitting outside. West View house is a good base for various day trips: ancient history (stones, romans), estates (house, garden, playground), landscape (beach, gorges), antiques, pictureque villages (film sets), all amply within a 60 minutes drive. Also Devizes has a lot of nice things to do (shopping, locks, brewery). Richard and Sue give great advice in the places to visit (including places we never heard of or would have thought about) and most of their recommendations are budget friendly too (Avebury instead of Stonehenge). There is so much to do in this area that we skipped our initially intended visit to London.
So for us the best place we could have wished for discovering this part of England, and the warmest hosts for an overwhelming stay. We do certainly strongly recommend this house to anyone who plans to visit this area.
Richard and Sue, again thanks for a wonderful week!

“The Devizes Rental Property Against Which Others Should be Judged”
Reviewed 26 July 2015 for a stay in July 2015

OK, OK, so I stayed here several times and it's not cheap, but there simply isn't anywhere that compares; we are coming back again at Christmas !

The kitchen with its pegmatite countertop and being so wonderfully equipped (I convinced Sue to add a couple more things) really makes it special. And it suits a variety of sleeping arrangements - we put an extra bed on the landing for our daughter. The furnishings are superb and comfy; the whole place oozes quality.

Richard and Sue are excellent hosts, and laid on extra chairs and a metal table for the barbecue; nothing is too much trouble.

For the drinkers, the Lamb and The Vaults are within staggering distance and are top drawer drinkers' pubs.

Property would really benefit from a clothes dryer; when the weatehr is rubbish, it can be a struggle just with the inside rack.

Liked best: Kitchen ! Location; quality & standard of furnishings, size of rooms; 3 toilets.
Liked least: Some doors are noisy and not perfectly fitting / handles noisy, esp. the master bedroom. Could benefit from a couple of drops of oil on a number of the door hinges. Porch could benefit from some coathooks......Is this really all I can come up with?
