The stables at fosse farmhouse is a comfortable, if pricey, place to stay. Each bedroom has shower and toilet ensuite, the kitchen is well equipped and the living room has sofas and a large dining table.
Dogs can stay too, they must sleep downstairs and it will cost you an additional £10 per night, per dog (very expensive I felt for a pet or three simply being in the house, it was an additional £90 for our three for a three night stay!)
The main downside of the property is the lack of its own garden. The outdoor space is accessed from the living room and is shared with the main house, the b&b and members of the public who can eat cream-teas there between 11am and 5pm. This was a bit of a disappointment for us as we had hoped to have an extended family lunch in 'our' garden as a birthday celebration- we ate out so the situation was resolved but nonetheless it was a shame.
The details of the house also suggest you have access to a barbecue; on arrival we realised the designated barbecue area was the gravel car-park for the stables, the b&b and the other rental properties! So unless you fancy barbecuing in a busy car park (we didn't) then it's not really a viable option.
The overall experience was fine, close to Bath, clean, serviceable, BUT this is clearly a business concern rather than a luxury peaceful retreat. There are several properties very close to each other- a hen party occupied the other cottages during our stay so there was a little noise and taxis coming and going and such like, the car park was full of cars parked immediately outside our front door. It felt very packed in (shared garden/ barbecue in the car park) and that the pleasant lady who owns the properties is very much maximising the business potential of the buildings.
If you are looking for a dog friendly self catering place to stay, close to Bath, and you aren't bothered about privacy and luxury then this is a good option. If though you are looking for a peaceful undisturbed rural retreat with a little luxury, special individual touches and care for your stay where you feel like a person rather than a number in an accounting ledger then maybe look elsewhere.
Also useful to note that you need to bring your own basic supplies, there was no milk in the fridge on arrival- so bring tea, fresh coffee and milk- and the wifi only works in the garden.
