We pre booked online and it was worth it to beat the long queue at the ticket office.
We walked up to the site having a slow walk through the nearby field which had other prehistoric features related to Stonehenge, and saw it appear in the distance. We'd hired audio description which were very informative on the site and surrounding features. It was an amazing experience and we spent a good hour going round the huge and ancient wonder. We then got the bus back to the visitors centre.
The centre is not massive but has a few experiences to add to the day.
A bit of advice, DO NOT follow the post code on the website, it leads to a housing estate nearby, audio aids can be downloaded to your phone apparently to save on hire costs, and take a little packed lunch to avoid the busy and expensive cafeteria on site.
